Old Newcastle boozers

Suprised you're still here Mark , the Farmers rest was a great bar as well.

Just to be clear none of the bars I went seemed gay, and I did take my girlfriends with me.

Pink shirts were trendy then. :D:D

the banter in there was always good and with it being quite a rocky place it was mostly chilled apart from a unprovoked attack on my mate by some nutter who hit him over the head with a brown ale bottle, he was removed by the doormen within seconds of it happening

Some of my regular haunts in the toon where -

The Long Bar
Douglas Vaults
Spit and Vomit
Royal Hotel
Durham Ox
Golden Fleece
Magpie
The Forth
North British
Chain Locker
Gay Trouper
Man on the moon
Bourgoines
Farmers
Northumberland Arms
Gold cup
Polish Club
Irish Club to name but a few. Not a p#ss head mind LOL

John

The best pub for me was the haymarket and wearing my Sunderland scarf on a toon match day LOL

used to be a guy that took his dog in - a German Shepherd that would go ballistic if it saw a red and white scarf!

can't ever remember it having a doorman - the wrath of Janice was enough to put anyone off!

Aye the doormen were there early 90's as i remember. The lad who bottled my mate were dragged out by men in monkey suits, thank god i never saw the big german shepherd eh LOL

Bloody hell!!, are you sure?, i'm trying to think of a time when i was in there and the one that springs to mind is when Guns and Roses played Gateshead Stadium. I'm sure that was the 90's but then again late 80's and 90's were fuzzy.
So it must have been in the 80's when my mate got hit over the head, how time flies by.

It was still open in 1992, that was when G'N'R did Gateshead.
Just did a google search, it was 1995 when they demolished the Haymarket Pub. Howay Mark, you trying to send me around the bend :)

Phew , I suddenly feel a LITTLE bit younger.

Newcastle rock scene isn't what it used to be , I suppose that's the same all over.

What about trendy pubs like Berlins , Masters , Maceys and Presidents ( I had a wee tumble down the spiral staircase in there. )

The trendy pubs were only drank in under duress on a work night out!!!!!, even then i used to have trouble getting into them, doormen used to laugh at me and tell me i could not come in dressed like that.............i wore shoes and a shirt and a tie and jacket, just because i looked like a spanish bull fighter i couldn't see problem??? LOL. Dressing up, fashion and drinking has never been me, that is all left up to the townie tossers.

I did recently, well a few year back before the tuxedo boat shut get refused entry for being to OLD!!!!!!!!!
