Old Newcastle boozers

Always remember going to (THE MONKEY CLUB) somewhere in Town, with me old man before the Match...
Thin it was somewhere near Pilgrim Cop Shop...
Also the (Delphi) think it might still be there???

There was the Market Lane on the corner down there. It had the nickname of the Monkey Bar. I don’t know if it’s still there or still has the same name and nickname.

Is Trillions still going?

Amazed no-one's mentioned The Man In The Moon, or am I just too old? Had my first pint in the Beehive in the Bigg Market, in 1970.

haha man in the moon! defo showing your age - for the young uns..

Man in the Moon became the Jubilee and then became Trillians (trillians is on its 3rd refit layout since it became trillians) First refit lasted 5mins then name came from the hitch Hikers guide to the galaxy and I seem to remember it re-opened with the intention of being a cocktail bar, and was fitted out all shiny white and gold, supposedly liek the spaceship "Heart of Gold'

City Tavern is now LYH Northumberland street end of Northumberland road,

Big up for the Haymarket Hotel - many a happy day and night in there, nice little circuit of the Jubilee/Trillians, City Tavern, Haymarket, Hotspur, Farmers and Percy. Occasionally detour to the Senate Bar (anyone remember than one?)
or maybe even Sergeant Peppers, Edwards bar of possibly Fat Sams

Broken Doll & Dog and Parrot down the bottom end of town - The Doll was THE Sunday lunch time recovery venue (with great live music)

As for The Robin Adair, sadly yes I can remember it but rather wouldn't

Took my Dad in the Haymarket in around 1985 First Time He'd been in since the very early 50's - he reckoned it hadn't changed a bit and he started going for a drink in there before the match in the 1930's! Such was the outcry when it was demolished, someone nicked a section of the bar and framed it and stuck it one the wall in the CUmberland Arms. Anyone know if its still there?

Aye, man in the moon was a canny one in all. I was also ganna mention the broken doll but beat to it. Here's a one though, did anyone use the malbrough club? Just up the road from the durham ox on the right

Yer, I think the gateshead barley mow is now the building maintenance company or something, the barley mow I mentioned earlier was the one on city road. Pineapple was a cracking boozer like.

is the Royle still open or even there? The Black garter, rose and crown the lowther yes fond memories

My uncle (Mac RIP) used to manage the Black Garter when it was called the market Tavern, he also managed the Lowther, all back in the early eighties though, the Lowther was a rough dump back then LOL.

For me and my mates from Morpeth our normal haunts were the Farmers, Haymarket, Percy, Trillions, Northumberland arms, the rock bar back along the street from the city hall, dog and parrot, broken doll. Can't not mention the Mayfair and the Riverside. And on a Sunday down to the Egypt Cottage and the barley mow for killer pool.

forgot to mention the cooprage, ofshore ,the coffin bar (Crown Posada ) cluny, the forth, rosies bar, tyne bar.........................................................we did some drinking LOL
