the leccy tape defo works as you say once the collars have already came off that is thier weakness but if it was new with the tape on it works fine did it to day on my sons rod no issuses when he changed his reels

when you unscrew them the clamp part stays on the reel and the threaded part screws off down the reel seat is my problem with them ... I have this with most of them , maybe I tighten them down too much ??

have the same problem,i think it is over tightening mate

As stan says, sandpaper wrapped aound a piece of dowel will be enough to ream to make ft.
