Reel seat help

Not at all I have rods for different marks the wr 300 suits some marks I fish I am trying to find a rod that I can use to its potential not just buying rods for there name or make I would use my wr300 on a beach as the tip is almost like a match tip and copes with the leads I like to use I want a Excalibur tt for the cliffs I have a p3 for rough ground a big beach for the beach a tripplex for river and summer fishing and hopefully gambia I know what rod suites what venue.

what rod does your mate use now then ??? is he still using a conoflex Anubis plus ??

Ah just use me wr300 for everything, tried other rods but this one is the bizzy. Once contemplated on selling the thing, must of been out of me nut.:D

back to reelseats boys lol the century 1,s are very poor quality and the hoods do often seperate from the seat itself over tightining is the problem as a lot of the feet on reels are slightly different but as i,ve said in another post on here some leccy tape to build the feet up works well and then you do,nt need to overtighten them my son does this all the time and works fine for him but also just my opinion buy cheap pay twice fuji all the way although i,ve used quite a few other 1,s and have served me well

Stan, yer in the wrong section mate, this is the tourney chucking one lol.
Only major prob I've had with a century reel seat is that an sl30 bracket is to small for it:confused: fact like, don't bother me as I've ditched the sl's, good reels like

so its the reel bracket on the reel is the problem not the reel seat on the rod that's crap then. the century reel seat is a cheap and nasty bit of rubbish unlike a quality Fuji seat.
Rod reel seats if good should accommodate all reels like Fuji do.

Some of the hoods have plastic inserts in some do.nt

I tried using insulation tape on some of my reels feet so you don't need to screw them down as far and the collars still popped off when I tried to loosen them off. when this happens im assuming that the reel seats had its best days and its time to renew it , the ones on my greys rods have stood a better test of time though ( Fuji )

Collar popped off mine from day 1 mate so not wear just bad design, still no big deal in my opinion:)

The one on my TTLD broke like that second time out. The shop I bought the rod from sent it back to Century and got a replacement, that one too broke second or third time out.

They are not fit for purpose as they are too cheap and shoddily made to hold smaller casting reels securely without tightening them right up (7HT Mag is what broke mine). The cup part then jams and the screw winch comes away and from then on it will happen every time you use the reel seat.

It is definitely a design fault with the Century seats. I've got UK Hooks sliding seats on my two Zzippies made using a Fuji DPS seat and I've never had an inkling of the same problem from them. I've now made my own sliding seat for my TTLD using a 22mm Fuji DPS and the old Century coaster and again, it works exactly as it should with no issues.

Century - brilliant rod blanks but seriously let down by shoddy components and build quality. And to put a £3 reel seat on a £300 - £400 rod blank to save money as opposed to putting on an £8 reel seat is just the worst sort of penny pinching.
