I spent a couple of hours at roker today, and the abundance of scales left behind after last night, made easy to see they weren't herring scales.

A mackerel and a sandeel for me, no idea what kind of sandeel greater I think, its in deep freeze in case I need to identify properly ha.

Aye Pete, it looks like a greater sand eel, but best way is to hold the mouth open, if it opens up in an alien like gape, then its a greater, if it opens into a tube, then its a lesser.

If it's not frozen solid yet Pete maybe you could check the mouth? If not I will put it down as Greater.
