Did it have 3 or 5 barbels James? It's a bit hard to tell if it's a shadow or a barbel as its slightly blurry around its head

Sorry I didn't think to photo the head as I just thought it was a shore rockling. Caught it off rocky island so doubt it would be a three beard

It doesn't have the bronzey metallic sheen a 5 beard has and I think it's a shadow rather than another set of barbels so will put it down as a shore rockling.

It's a shame we don't get more round here as they are usually an alright size to catch and fight decent on lighter gear, like a bass rod
