NESA Species Hunt 2015

Another species for me and a surprise to get it yesterday in the NE, sand goby.
I've now created a table seeing as I'm not the only one now :D
Hopefully a few more will enter, loads of time to catch up and pass me and it's all just a bit of fun and motivation to get out and catch summat different

Cheers mate. Good idea doing the species hunt - no big fish about at the moment but looking for new species keeps me interested.

Sea Scorpion

Sea Scorpion

Having never caught on before, I managed three in a row this afternoon :D.

I think I'll need some help with IDing the second one. First one is definitely long spined.

They're both long-spined, James. The second one does have quite short spines for a long-spined bullhead though. I've had quite a few like that that I've needed to check the top lip and gill membrane on.

Table updated :)

Look how vivid the eye spots are on it! One of my fave fish even though they do live up to their name making them a pain to unhook :D

Another one for me to add and a fish I've been after for yonks, tadpole fish

I'd love to catch a tadpole fish, nice one!

Almost didn't have the butterfish. Like you said, nightmare to unhook. Got the hook out and it wriggled out and almost went through the planks on the pier!
