watched the red n white army hang on against liverpool then headed off to the pier with me dad for fish bonding session
had got bait off codfather 145 earlier in the day mackeral, ragworm, muscle, crab and a top secret bait which i cant tell u or else he will kill me lol a great bloke
got down about 8 ish and fished till 4.30 sunday morning
had whiting coming in 2 at a time kept 6 for the table all sized but were to deeply hooked to let go or i would of
codfather 145 (stevie) came down to see how we were gettin on with the magic bait but to be honest i think it was to take the p.ss out of me lol lol lol
then with a magic secret bait my dad pulled in a lobster nice but too small but was a lovely blue colour which must be rare as most lobsters are pink or red ( only jokin boys)
not long after another lobster
with only about 15 lads on pier fishing on came another nesa member MICKY QUAYLE a nice bloke had a long chat with great fella full of fishing info and told me some good winter marks to try he also caught flatty,s and a small coddling about 4 inches long lol
ended the night catching about 25 whiting 2 lobsters and the smallest flatfish in the world
only negatives on the night were no cod and about 50 whiting floating on the surface dead after lads tried to release them but could anyone tell me , we lost loads of gear opposite the last set of steps towards the sea not the harbour side when reeling in about 50 yards in you suddonley god snagged on something in mid water ????????

Lol, my rigs dont catch much, just trying to talk the better half into letting
me out tuesday afternoon, so hopefully there will be no wind and plenty
fish, not sure of high tide at roker, think its about 6ish.

I did hear there had been a set of pots lost of the SE corner so along with the 3 million sets of daylight that added to it is going to cause problems till we get a huge northerly,on the subject of returning whiting it a bit of a lost cause as most dont go back lipped hooked or other, the damage is done hauling them in at speed which apparently damages the swim bladder so 99% will die anyhow even if they appear to swim off,at the end of the day there are more whiting than ever as the fish that predate on them mainly cod are in short supply,I can see them being a pain this winter ....

Its more than likely you were getting caught on a string of lobster pots.I was down a few weeks ago and a boat dropped his pots no more than 50-70 yards from the pier. You start winding in then get caught but you can puul your rig free only to get it stuck again...definately ropes from pots!

No COD about, boat fishing of Roker all day last saturday, 5 of us, caught 2 cod all day, both around a lb, loads of whiteys / mackerel, did catch a 5lb LING :)
