me kris and josh headed down tynemouth pier last night, my favourite place on the north east coast, the watchman hadn't even got back to his hut and we were on :D as we were the first ones on we went straight to the end. expectations weren't high, just a flatty or 2 would keep me happy with the odd mackeral on the spinning rod.

i got the bait rod set up, wishbone rig baited with lug and mackeral one one hook with rag and mackeral on the other, out it went.

i tried doing a bit spinning but 28g spinners dont work too good in the wind.

while trying the spinner i was getting bites on the bait rod and in came these 2

kris followed with a nice little plaice

not a bad start we all thought, out it went again and not long after these 2 came in.

we were more than happy with how the night was starting then i pulled in this, my first ever dogfish, some people class them as pests but i don't and it's a new species for me, weighed in at 2lb

no sooner had my bait settled, i had a bite then a slack liner which resulted in this 1lb 6oz

as darkness came the fish kept coming, sometimes the bait had barely touched bottom and they were on our bait.

it was a cracking night, we all had fish, nothing massive though i did lose a better one which came off half way in, in total we had 7 species which is good to see.

Great report bud with great photos too. Never fished that Tynemouth pier before but always hear good things about the fishing. Tight lines.
