response
i would get one of those,i have got one and it is the dogs doo daa\'s
i havent had a big fish on it but i know they can handle them
super rod
£275
would you pay that richy?

Two words mate, Longbeach. Tried one and liked it so much that Terry has a cheque of mine for 275 notes.
I reckon Zippys are overpriced for what they are, just my opinion though, someone will tell me otherwise.
You could also consider Reelsport\'s new rod, the Blue Thunder, I think Big Sean or someone on this board has one.
Conoflex Nemesis Plus, me mate has one and they\'re pretty good.

richy if you want when fishing the match i will bring the blue thunder up with me as well as the long beach and you can try them both out if you want
as for lifting with a rod terry will tell you NO ROD IS DESIGNED FOR LIFTING ha ha ha mine get used on bempton cliffs and they are 300 ft pluss from the water and i have hauled cod to 7lb up on em lol lol sorry terry

Cheers for the info lads...I got myslef a new rod today and it was none of the above lol...i got CENTURY KOMPRESSOR WR 300.
Gong to give it a shot tomora, i have not wasted lugworm for about 2 months lol.

RICHY ..I HAVE WASTED LUGWORM FOR THE PAST 2 MONTHS AS WELL AS CRAB ,,RAG,,,MACKEREL...LINE ...HOOKS...SINKERS,,,AND MY TIME AND PATIENCE LOL :(

nice rod the kompressor ,but you should have tried a longbeach ,they are the bizz, ive had mine nigh on a year and it beats the rest by miles
ps terry ,theres another plug for ya ;)

Last night i took a longbeach and the kompressor down the river to test them both out together and yes i agree the longbeach is a very nice rod,so easy to cast with and has a nice light feeling but at the same time still having that power to battle cod out the kelp.I was torn between the two scratching my head, there was wood all over.I went for the kompressor because it had that little bit more power and i was after the rod for rock and kelp work.Might get a long beach in the summer.

if you are getting a new second hand rod(if you know what i mean lol)dont get a conoflex highlander, they snap when casting !(well mine did )and conoflex didnt want to know,i know i have posted on this subject before but it really pissed me off

good job you mentioned that les, i have always thought of getting a highlander at some point or another, but since you said that my mind is turned the other way. :D

Eeeeee did it Les you never told us before lol go on tell us the story agaun...it will make you feel better.

By the way i caught nowt today, had a fish just about take the rod out of my hand when it picked my bait up and ran...snagged me up straight away...the one that got away.

Have been off the site for a couple of weeks due to technical failure - it buggered up and had to wait for a technical wizz to sort it out in about two minutes but........

Conoflex Nemisis Plus. Excellent off the rocks but still sensitive in the river or off the beach. Have an Apollo which is great for heavy stuff but no sensitivety for more all round work. The new Nemesis Plus looks and feels good although I\'ve never had a bash but may be on my wish list in the New Year. :P

If I were you i\"d go for either the Conoflex Nemesis plus which have a quality fishing tip and backbones of power but I was also in the Tackle shop the other day and found myself playing with a Ron Thompson Axellerator £99 13\"6 and it felt great. It was light had a hardy tip and the butt was unbendable ideal for lifting and skull dragging.

Smashing value for the money.

I have got a Century TTB and a TTR.. I would never part with either of them. I have made too many expensive mistakes in the past! :(

Same here Hoody, got a TT-R amoung others and must have spent £1000\'s on rods but it\'s perfect for me. Love the Tip-Tornado range too, and have four different ones GP, Lite, Ultra-Lite,Sport.

I wouldn\'t hestitate to buy another second hand, or even new but it took some saving to get the first one, £40 of zircon rings on it for a start LOL ;)

i would`nt go past my century kompressor grand prix, i fish all grounds, sometime in a big sea and strong tidal areas. i find this rod to be very very strong, light, and sensitive to bites, the sea doesnt bother this rod much, i hold my rod as second nature, never use a stand or tripod, its very comfortable to use and hold for a session, ive pulled in cod in a big sea to 15lb and no probs for the rod,
i use various reels with this rod, slosh, abu 7000 and the elite all match the rod perfectly, 5-6oz weights are ideal for this rod for all conditions.
another excelent rod is my other the century tip tornado, very light, really sensitive to bites, though a bit soft for rocks and dragging fish through kelp beds. but for beach, pier or general rock its perfect. this rod for being so light and having a thin top section it is unbelievably strong, you could never snap it by pulling at a snag. it bends forever, hence-not being ideal for dragging fish through a heavy kelp bed.

good luck

personally i wouldnt buy a zziplex, over exagerated and they are not built with the same composite as century.
remember zziplex are built as what i class as a southern rod, for southern beach work.
century rods are built locally and they know the local terrain the rods will be used on. we have a rugged coastline with some of the finest fishing areas in the uk, these are designed to take punishment, and will never let you down.

rods are not designed to lift fish over around 3lb, no rod is - drop nets and handballing the fish is the only way, to lift a big fish say of around 8lb the rod would have to have a solid butt and the tip section around 3inches thick to withstand the pressures of lifting a fish of this callibre
