Where are there some free places that I can go river fishing? Or what clubs have the best stretches for Chub, Barble carp etc?

The river Wansbeck has a big stretch of Free water that runs through Morpeth, call in at Sports & Leisure Blyth or Ian Woods back rigs Morpeth they will give you all the info you need.

john.

Have a look on the advice post further down. I put a link "credit crunch fishing" all you need to know on that website.

There are some free stretches at Morpeth, i'm sure some one on this site can give you some further information, if not , contact Ian woods at the Morpeth fishing tackle shop and he will probably set you on the right track.

I used to fish theTyne at Newburn didn't know there were grayling there.
Newburn did have a free section but cann't fish 100Yards (I think it is) either side of the of the causeway, fishing for Brownies, Dace and Roach and as always Eels and the odd flounder.

Morpeth as mentioned has a free section from the road bridge up river Skinnery Foot Bridge see map. For Brownies and Eels and the odd Rainbows (escapees from the resivours upstream)

Ponteland was free through the park and down river from behind the diamond pub after the allotments down to the road bridge. for Brownies, Grayling and Dace.

Durham also has a couple of free sections for Brownies, Salmon, Dace, Roach, Chub, and Barbel and may be some others.

Thats all I can think of at the moment.:yltype:

Aah that would explain it as there is a good head of Grayling in the river Derwent and you can fish that on a day permit from Rowlands Gill but unsure of the boundaries.;)
