perfect rod

Well after nearly 50 years fishing I'm still looking for the perfect rod, at present I am using a zziplex 3500 which is basically a match rod and a greys shadow which would pull the plug out, What I'm after is something in between which would do rough ground at a pinch but still has a bit of feel like a match rod, easy cast capable of 6oz plus bait and no longer than 13' 6'' also would prefer a zippy or century, tall order or is it out there, any suggestions welcome and if anyone has that perfect rod any chance I can have a chuck or two
Thanks Billy

zippy

how about a zippy LT bullet or a century j -curve I had both of these ,but I like my rod pretty much for the hard ground hope this helps you,i am sure you will get more response's though.............

Been through a rake of rods and everyone's opinion will be different but for an all rounder i love my century c3 ld.Some say they can be a bit numb in the tip but i see little flatty bites aswell as big lunges off a cod.
Although i had a chuck of a zipplex primo hi-flex the other week and think one will be on the christmas list.

You will get as many different suggestions as you will get responses :D

However my two pennorth is the rod you are after is an early model Primo Synchro. The newer model is a fair bit softer than the original (I've got the newer one and I absolutely love it but it's a bit soft in the mid-section for proper rough ground work). Or the Synchro's big brother the Dymic HST; better on the 175 and a bit more poke while still keeping a lot of the finesse.

Another alternative would be an M4 GT; same butt and mid section as the M4 Evo so will handle the odd trip to the rough stuff but with a glass tip which gives it the finesse of a match rod. Handles 175 plus bait with ease and is a joy to cast.

You are welcome to have a play, especially now the lighter nights are here just give me a shout (and bring your reels). I'm in Sunderland just off the A19 / A690 (Primo Synchro and M4 Evo / GT)

I have the rod your looking for and have been using it for many years.

Tip Tornado sport.

I started with the original formula tip tornado. I used this until it became the sport and a softer match and stiffer grand prix were added. my old formula softened with use but the mk1 sport is autoclaved so doesn't suffer from the softening as much.

I still use 2 tip sport for most of my fishing, from match fishing for dabs and whiting over clean ground to the occasional rough patch for cod and huss.

thin, light with fantastic bite detection and solid in the wind. the tip sport is happy casting small baits and 4oz or launching 6oz and big baits on a full pendulum cast.

ive had dozens of double figure huss on them a they have landed cod over 40lb in Norway.

Nothing to disagree with there Bill, Mk1 TT Sport was (is) a fabulous rod

that could be what i'm after dabcatcher although I've not tried 1 also thought about the super match but it sounds like my 3500 zippy

Well guys latest update after your feedback I read a few reviews and put a bid in for tt sport on the bay and won it for £145 result! I hope its what I'm after or it'll be in the forsale section lol

Met Stewart and his zippy's at hendon and a pleasure it was, thanks a million mate enjoyed casting with them especially the primo syncro what a peach that was, also met 2 guys (didn't get their names but think they on here) and I got to cast 1 of their rods an afaw match pro teamed with a daiwa 7ht blue mag reel VERY NICE thanks guys, and I also had a few chucks with my new mk1 tt sport felt similar to the primo nice easy cast and think i'll learn to love it the more I use it,

Nice to meet you too Bill. Shame there was a lad fishing there as I'd have liked a bit of casting practice myself but there wasn't room to swing a lead.

The Synchro is a lovely rod and a joy to use though those two on the Bay are Mk 1s so will be a bit stiffer than the one I have. Still brilliant rods mind and probably a little more suited to rough ground use than the newer models.

That TT Sport is a good rod as well, wish I'd never sold mine now (though I also wish I'd never swapped by LT Bullet either, but then again how many rods can you use...)

Nice to meet you Billy, that was me with the Afaw Match Pro.

Well guys update on the rod, after a few sessions I'm well pleased with the way it handles its not a stiff rod at all with a bit of flex in the butt, really light in weight and super slim; Now all I need is a decent fish on the end of it to really get a feel for it lol
