Match 6 in our 2011 league. 13 Anglers fished mainly Blyth Pier with some taking a shot at the beach and rock marks. As usual the match was scored using the SAMF score chart with everything measuring 18cm or bigger counted. There wasnt much that came in that wouldnt have been able to be weighed in if it was an open comp' where the scales decide the winner. This was probably the most fish caught in one of our comp's for years with all anglers managing to trouble the scorer (some more than others though). Steve Walker hooked a nice 6lb 3oz codling on his 1st cast from the bend on the Pier and despite Ian Ainsley hand balling it up (didnt even shake it off) that would normaly be enough to win some comp's outright with 305 points and the biggest fish of the night. News soon spread and it was catch up for everyone. Mick Todd took a double shot on his 1st cast producing a codling and coalie for 144pts. The odd fish was regularly appearing on the pier end with some whiting up to 44cm, flounder, dab, coalies and codling. Charlie Bath was pulling in fish consistently on the end but the old boys Fred Douglas and Ray Archbold took the comp' by fishing a short walk along the first leg of the pier but casting just into the breakers.
