Today’s Comp was fished between 1400hrs-1900hrs on a flat calm sea, with very little wind and bright periods of Sun. We had 66 members out fishing for the Crawford Cup today wihich included 6 lady members. With today’s big tide, a few cod were expected and some wrasse which we are seeing in numbers from the Pier.
A few of the lads vacated their pier pegs and decided to try the base of the pier,in search of a cod which we had seen previously on a big tide, but not this tide, lads reported not even a bite to show for it.
Dean Furness had drawn a Drum head peg and openly admits to searching for Coleys near to the founds of the pier but luckily for him a few nice fresh run cod were also present giving him a good Victory for his three Codling tempted out.
A few of the lads tried the Cliff tops in anticipation of a few Codling taking advantage of the big tide and it appears the Chemical beach area held a few.
I also have to mention Lady Committee member Emma Louise, who caught a new club record for a Wrasse at 2.22lb from the pier and which can be seen on Clubs Facebook page, well done Emma.

1ST Dean Furness. 3 Codling for 5.46lb (Pier Drum)
