I have a couple battered as hell, but still run and cast like new !
Pick them up for next to now't, service them with new bearings/washers, and a careful set up, bit of red rocket,( I find they need more than a drip).
It doesn't matter what they look like, and you will be glad you have one on the rod when you hit that pig !
Garcia ruined many a good name, I have a 6500 hi speed mag, don't use it on anything but the softest of ground, very flimsy.

I just recently serviced an old, original (although it had been converted with a CT bar) 7000c for a friend - it had had a hammering largely from abuse on the boat, the handle was wobbling and the ratchet didn't work properly. After a thorough strip down & clean I was amazed how well the original bearings were still running - they were good as new after re-lubing and everything tightened up nicely again. Just a shame ABU no longer build any of their reels to the same standard![]()
