Fished from cliffs 1 up 2 down with 2 mates last night where the car park used to be. I caught 2 codling about 38cm each and one of the lads I was with also got one similar. Crab and fresh blacks or Cart.
Problem was we were getting hammered by big rockling every cast, sometimes within seconds of the bait hitting the bottom they were pecking away at baits. We caught a dozen or so between us including one which must have been close to a pound.
One of the lads also caught a rockling which had been very badly chewed by a good fish sometime between hooking itself and being retrieved. It was really chomped all over and tail was gone.
We put a live rocking out on a sleeper rod and left it all night but it didn't go. Still worth a try I reckon.
So not the fish we were looking for but a pleasant evening nonetheless.
