Fished from cliffs 1 up 2 down with 2 mates last night where the car park used to be. I caught 2 codling about 38cm each and one of the lads I was with also got one similar. Crab and fresh blacks or Cart.
Problem was we were getting hammered by big rockling every cast, sometimes within seconds of the bait hitting the bottom they were pecking away at baits. We caught a dozen or so between us including one which must have been close to a pound.
One of the lads also caught a rockling which had been very badly chewed by a good fish sometime between hooking itself and being retrieved. It was really chomped all over and tail was gone.
We put a live rocking out on a sleeper rod and left it all night but it didn't go. Still worth a try I reckon.
So not the fish we were looking for but a pleasant evening nonetheless.

I seen you's fishing when I drove past in the car. Been people
Fishing there all week when I've been past, was wondering if anything was getting caught lol.

Never known as many rockling, sure we would have got more codling it the rocklings weren't piling into the baits every cast. Is it best to fish straight out there or back towards Marsden rock? Its clear there is a nice gulley to the left as you look out to sea, casting towards the rock, but it seemed really snaggy. Still rough stuff straight out but you could get your lead back most of the time.

you can cast anywhere from towards the point back towards the coast road that seperates the 3rd from the 4th bay right around to south eastwards back towards jack rock to the south. Most people cast north east from the point itself but if you look down theres a rock the size of a caravan at the bottom which makes landing a fish a bit more awkward. I prefer casting due east but dont get too close to the edge as its full of cracks and overhangs. Always been a rockling haven but if theres rockling then the cod will be there to feed on them also.
