Is this site upside down?

I have been coming on this forum quite regularly for the last couple of months. During this time I have introduced a couple of friends to it. They have browsed it and left, \"too confusing\" cant find anything.

I have only just found this rather busy topic buried at the bottom of the main page, somewhere below a topic about wether I want a NESA lighter and archived results from past competitions. Its a thought that a spring clean of the main forum page may encourage more users to stay and become regulars. I understand all the regulars know where everything is, but it could be made far more user friendly for the newbies IMHO.

Little changes like moving the fishing chat up the page above the lighters and the codling crouch topic would seem to make sense to me.

Does anyone else think this is the case or is it just me being picky.

I am pretty much the same as Bert but as Sless says we have used the forum for a long time. When I first joined there wasn\'t half the things that there are now. Still don\'t see it as much of a problem though.

Some other forums that I have used are a lot more difficult to find your way around as they have sub sections inside bigger sections.

I think the more you need on a forum the more difficult it becomes for new comers to find their way around. A lot of things have been added since I joined and one item every couple of months or so would not be really noticed. Most of it seems like it has been there for ever now lol.

Still can\'t really see any problem with it as it is very self explanatory. I think anyone new spending a while exploring and they would soon get used to it.

Nice to see someone asking questions and suggesting something constructive Dave, personally I dont see any problems but like the others I use it all the time and I know my way around.TC and Jim are always happy to help with any improvements if needed ;)

its dead easy really, even i can do it, miss the topics you dont want to read. Even if the site was turned the other way up others may not want to read what comes to the top. You can not please everybody, thats life.

I know where ur coming from Dave cos when I first posted on nesa I thought the same but just stick with it and it becomes a second nature. I now find it simpler to navigate than other fishy forums cos there is less info crammed onto one page

i have no poblems with the site even when i first joined.
the only problems i have is
A. how to spell
B. cant red or write when i\'m drunk
C. not putting a catch report up every week with apicture of a huge fish lol
apart from that, spot on :D :D :D

cheers
mark :D

FFS........wot\'s the problem ????

Everything is listed on one page.

Scroll down the list of forums \'til you find the forum you want \"shore fishing\" \"boat fishing\" \"chat\"........where\'s the problem ???

The NESA lighter info is part of the \"Admin Notices\" which is the top section of the forums page.

Over recent months, there\'s been a huge increase in the NESA membership - with many new members posting, without any problems.

Frankly Dave, if your friends find the layout \"too confusing\", the best thing for them to do is to pack their computers into the boxes they came in and send them back to where they bought them from............they shouldn\'t have a computer !!

Lol Mark - Aye, just a bit busy.

It\'s Fridat night, so I\'ve taken a few hours off from working and had a few drinks.............stressed out, tired and p*ssed........ and not really in the mood to be diplomatic.....lol

Hey TC.
I was only looking for opinions. so please chill. It was in no way meant to be a critism of the site as a whole and general opinion seems to be its just fine.

There is no way any site can please everyone and this post was more of a constructive comment than a critisism. Its intresting to note that everyone who has commented on this post has been here a while...perhaps the newer members never found it.

With regards to your comments about people who should put their pc\'s back in the box, from experience they are in the majority and it is a minority who understand msql etc as you so obviously do. All I was trying to say is that perhaps if a popular topic such as this were moved further up the main page it might get a few more posts from people who are new to the forum as opposed to the current situation where die hard regulars seem to be the only ones posting.

No offence meant TC. And on that note its goodnight from me.

Dave

Dave it would not matter where abouts the chat forum was. Have a look in shore fishing and compare a thread with 15 posts on it to this one. You will find that the post in shore fishing will have probably twice as many \"hits\" not because it is down the board but because a lot of members are not interested in the chat section.

That is the reason important threads are posted in shore fishing, boat fishing and also in chat.

A while ago I put something about fund raising in the RNLI forum and it never got a look. I moved it to shore fishing and it was read by everyone.
