Well seven hardy soles turned up to fish the first winter Comp of the season in what turned out to be ideal conditions, with a good sea running, no wind and very little rain.
The Comp was to be fished between 7pm and 11pm on a rising tide using the SAMF catch and release score card for length of fish, with anything over 18cms scoring

Ian Ainsley had three Codling out for the first three casts measuring 37cm,38cm and 49cm and stormed into a quick lead, before Ian Jackson followed with a 30cm Coley.
The lads were then into a few flounder with Alan Lunn landing a plump 30cm.
Ian continued where he left off and landed two further two Codling in quick succession measuring 33cm and 38cm.
With around 60minutes to go, the shout had gone up from Mick Dunn, that he had finally managed to wrestle one out, and he produced a one eyed suicidal 28cm Coley to the scorer, but at least it saves the blank he cried.!!!!
Just as the rain made an appearance with thirty minutes to go, Ian had a cracking bite which nearly lifted the butt of the ground and struck into a decent fish only to get it snagged in the boulders at the edge of the Prom, but with a little help from Mr Woodcock they managed to get the fish out and onto the measure, the biggest of the night was landed measuring a nice plump 52cm and taking the biggest fish prize.
All the fish were taken on either worm or live crab and were all released safely apart from the last codling due to the damage it received from getting stuck in the blocks.
A good night was had by all with only Mel Anderson and Keith Robinson failing to trouble the scorer and having to fight over the El Blanco Mexican Hat.!!!

RESULTS.

1st. Ian Ainsley..6 x Codling for 450pts
2nd. Ian Jackson 1 x Coley 3 x Flounder for 64pts
3rd Alan Lunn 1 x Flounder for 33pts
4th Kev Woodcock 1 x Coley for 22pts
5th Mick( cast to the left) Dunn 1 x Coley for 20pts

Mel Anderson and Keith Robinson failed to use hooks and blanked

Ian this, Ian that. Bit of an odd way to type about yourself.

Anyway I have decided i really don't like the mark, too many idiots driving along the bottom section of prom too fast and with their headlights on main beam trying to burn out your retina's

If you'd caught summit decent, I mite of mentioned you ha ha

Cracking good night. Still one of my favourite venues. Shame about the cars, litter, and unmentionables snagging your hooks. Pleased they've been washed in the sea after being flushed.

Kev we could see the rocks in your bay were a right problem for you. Seemed nightmare for snagging up. We did loads better just them few yards to your right. Hardly caught up at all on the reel in.
Mick.

Well done Ian mate on a canny bag of fish to win. Good fish Jacko to get the biggest fish. Was a lot better than our 1st comp last Sunday up a Craster! Charlie
