Mate of mine fishing out of Port Logan yesterday took his first mackerel of the year. Do not know if they have turned up at the usual shore marks yet though. Heading over on Wednesday for a stint in our Clash caravan. Will be having a go for the bass on lures if the weather is ok.

Were headed over Friday morning bright and early hope the weather plays ball

More than welcome to call in for a cuppa/beer anytime. Van no 5 on the top Clash site. You will be able to see my red Scenic parked outside our van from the main gate if we are in.

Cheers John, if it rains all weekend you might not be able to get rid of us lol

I am up there this weekend for 3 days, spoke with skipper and they had 2 mackerel and 180 size herring today !!!!! no tope thou and that was the species i was hoping to catch after years of not landing one.

May see you in the Clash, i be the one with a pint and the biggest mixed grill they do...with an extra bowl of chips :) someone said the Ship Inn has closed.

Yes the Ship is now shut. It was open as a Thai Restaurant last year but it did not take off !! I tend to drift into the Clash on a Friday night so may see you there. You camping on the Clash campsite or East Tarbet ?

A bit extra information. A lot of folk do not know that there is a small campsite on the Clashwhannon site down by the beach. Here are a couple of photos from it

With it being a small campsite its best to book the pitch in advance with Martin or Louise. Current cost to camp is £6/per person/per night. At least there are toilets and showers not sure if there is only hot water available at night though. Also there are a couple of budget caravans on the site priced at £55 per night. Not a bad price if there are 4/5 of you sharing. Link to the Clash website is at the bottom of my page.

East Tarbet is our normal destination, as long as the farmer hasn't put that bull in the field yet. We had a bit crack with him last year and he seemed very pleasant, i expect the 3 bags of rubbish we were busy loading it the boot might have had something to do with that.

I have never camped there but when down at East Tarbet do fill the odd black binliner with anglers rubbish !!!! Its normally empty beer cans, disposable barbies and empty bait packets, discarded line etc :-(

We have hired a cottage next to the harbour for our time there, cant go wrong for £30 a night when someone brings you a cooked breakfast on request :)
