Well done to the party of 10 anglers who booked 2 boats 1 from sunderland the other from amble and chose amble with no intention of letting me know what there plans were thank you very much lads you cost me a days pay and my crewman we do this for a living and can do with out, Hope you let the skipper up in amble know what your game is, What I should do is put your name and club and number down on here name and shame but I don't do that, Am afaid now lads any angler or or clubs have 5 days from first fone call to send deposit or your trip will go to next available angler, Sapphire.

Very naughty we now have a blacklist of people who use those of tricks a card reader used to take a deposit would stop it happening if they don't turn up they still pay youjust need to email them you terms and conditions after bookings some people just do not realise you are trying to make a living .

is a sad way to have to go peter, deposits being a bit of a pain when it comes to weather cancelations etc,but i bet money theres more skippers doing it next year as a result of this years epidemic of scum no shows.

also time n/e skippers started emailing each other with names/telephone number of no shows it aint fool proof system but it might make some of the pillocks think twice:mad:

Am all for it letting other skippers know those you let you down I already have a list and have let the other two chartered boats in sunderland have it, I will be mailing other skippers names, numbers, of these anglers to watch for,

Just a thought, could a deposit not be taken through Paypal to the skippers account, this way no credit/debit card numbers are involved, only the skippers email address...

More people than ever are now using Paypal.....

Any refunds back to the punters due to weather problems would be easy as well........:)

I think the best way to deal with this is name and shame. Some people will not use PayPal I have been on peters boat a few times now and would never dream of doing that with any skipper. I have also been look online at peters bookings for later this month and I cannot get on, on the days I can get out hopefully these days are full of genuine bookings.

Name them Peter

Gordon

There is a problem with blacklists and if they arent genuine its probably a false name anyway its happeneing all to regular of late i even had one guy said it wasnt his name i had in the dairy caller display never lies he got it both barrels of me pay pal or a card reader is the only way to go it will stamp out the time wasters and shaft them just where it hurts if they dont turn up.

that is shocking Peter, have mentioned this a few times in my articles, that it is your living, but it seems as if they just don't care.

Easy resolution, they made a verbal contract with you which is binding, weather was good hence they went out, small claims court defo, if its a club even better, they don't have a leg to stand on!

I don't understand any of this?

We book a charter boat, if they don't know us, they ask for a deposit, which we send!!

If we don't turn up(which we would never do) they have our deposit, so they have some money.

Take a deposit guys.

A lot of guys out there are genuine and sincere but the thing with the deposit is what a deposit actually means is that when taken it is only to stop myself or any other skipper booking somebody else it is only to secure your booking if anybody purposely dont turn up there is still have an outstanding balance.

Many years ago one skipper said to me and he is right if you book a seat on a plane a train etc you have to pay in full this is why nowadays a lot of skippers have pay pal on there site and send out confirmation of booking with terms and conditions if somebody doesnt give adequate notice that they are not coming which would be in the terms and conditions then they would be still liable for full payment .

What really grinds any skipper is when you are turning lads away and the name in dairy has no intention of turning up a phone call ,email,or even a tx in good time gives you a chance to try and rebook somebody in there we are now in 2013 no exuses anymore some do it blatant very naughty indeed most b+b nearly all have card readers now if you dont give good time in cancelling you still have to pay which seems very fair to me.

A lot of people seem to think chareterboats run on frsh air they are very expensive toys that need a lot of care and attention plus at the end of the day you are only just trying to make a living .

Cheers paul.
