I got a text from Keith yesterday asking if I could manage a spot of fishing, quickly sorted a bit gear out and met him at half six. Had a slow walk along the pier and bumped into Lee (5150) nice to see you mate. The end was manic, I was going to say busy but no it was manic lol so we fished just short of there. We could see a few Mackerel coming in but not in great numbers. It was a bit chilly when we got there and continued to get colder as the night went on so the end slowed down to just busy. Keith managed a couple of Mackerel but despite more and more coming in all the time from the end, I never managed one. There were quite a few Coley's caught while we were there too, it's ages since I saw them come in in numbers like that. As the night went on there seemed to be more Mackerel being caught which surprised me as the water was more than just choppy.
We left not long after nine as we both were just wearing t shirts and the chilly had turned to cold lol. Keith was starting to shiver and I was about the same when we got back to the car. My temperature guage was showing 13 degrees but I have been warmer on the same beach in February. It was still 16 when I got back to Consett just after 10 o clock, who says it is always cold there

The usual mess was on the pier but certainly no worse than during the winter. There is always one halfwit that packs his rubbish neatly into a carrier bag and then continues to fasten it to the pier before he goes home, what is that all about?????? It is something I have seen since I first started fishing, a litterer with a conscience perhaps :casstet::casstet::casstet: maybe just their way of dealing with the guilt. I would say that apart from the empty Fosters cans there was definately no more rubbish that what is there during the winter.
Well I've not been out in ages and now that I know I can manage the slow walk along the pier I will be back again soon, hopefully with a few Mackerel

PS I will tell you what yours tasted like later today Keith.
