What ya listenin to now !!!

Lol...Mark....Think we all listen to that album from time to time.....Sometimes I can listen to it for weeks without getting sick of hearing it.Never thought of playing it backwards tho......Could be dangerous M8.

Love this thread, Paul................cheers for startin' it

Made me have a listen to a load of old stuff I've got still on proper "records" (anybody remember "LPs"......lol).

Came accross some belters that I'd forgotten about. Just been listening to Son House tonight...........proper blues........there's a rare clip of him here playing Death Letter Blues:

NOTE TO DAREN: You might like this.....one bloke on his own with a dobro ;)

Most recent version of this I've heard is by the White Stripes (here's a clip from their DVD "Under Blackpool Lights":

NOTE TO DAREN: Don't think you'll like this (it's a bit loud) ;)

......Jackie boy does a cracking version but..................still know which one I prefer, though.

TC i enjoyed both versions:eek: the second one was a bit loaud but hey im a young lad and i handled that well i think :D cheers mate.i had a look on you tube last night and found some cracking irish music on it i even found dueling banjos have not heard that for years the last time i heard it my dad was playing it in the front room, infront of an open coal fire,ah the memories, he is a marvel on a banjo he has been playing for nearly forty years and cant read a musical note what a guy.anymore sites on music mate will be great i cant get enough of it as long as its not as loud as that last one he he:D :D

Lol glad you enjoyed them Daren - The White Stripes album version is much less errrrmmm..."loud" and sticks a bit more to the original.....old Jack White tends to get a bit carried away when performing live......lol.

I've just recently taken up the banjo (2 weeks ago, actually) and am finding that I've got to unlearn everything I'd learned over the past almost 40 years about playing guitar. Even if it takes me forty odd years to master it (lol...or even get the hang of it), I'll stick with it - love the sound of a 5 string banjo !

There are loads of music vids on the 'net, Daren......even if you just use the "video" search on the likes of Google or alta vista........have fun exploring, m8.

i would love to be able to play the banjo mate but im tone deaf inthat department:D my dad plays every day he used to have a band but now he just plays in his local pub in ireland with his brothers .its mad nobody askes them they just turn up instruments in hand sit in a corner and play all night.its a cracking night out cos they play until they are fed up and thats normaly about three in the morn :D so we are all normally asleep or so drunk we know we should have left hours ago :D :D but thats the irish for you never stop until everyone has had a good night you ever been over there mate

Lol...no, I haven't, Daren. Nearest I've came to that was that night in the pub in Threlkeld in the Lake District........Brilliant night.

Donno if you know it (Mark will and I dare say a few others might to) but there used to be a place in Weardale calle dthe "Rancho Del Rio"......was a place to go for a country & western night out. Every year, when I was a kid, we spent our Summer holidays in Weardale (still do with my own family now sometimes). One year (I must've been about 15 or 16), our holidays were coming to a close and it was almost time to go home. We'd spent many a night in the Rancho and had come to know the (then) owner, Ken Rowney and his family pretty well. Ken could see that I wasn't too happy about having to go home - so he told my mam & dad that I could stay with his family at the Rancho until the end of the school Summer holidays.......what a fantasic time I had there...........the band which provided the C&W entertainment were Ken and his family......had a great time with them. 1st time I got to have a go at playing a Fender Strat and Tele .....and with a real band, too.......magical times.
