What the best rig for fishing beaches?

personal choice for myself is a pully rig made of 80lb line and 3/0 hook, use these rigs every where, beach/ rocks/ pier.
its just simple and easy to make

on a clean beach would use a two hook rig.hook size depends on what u are fishing for. use a different bait on each hook.flapper rig is the most common.

For clean beach work winter fishing a clip down pennel paternoster rig is about as good as it gets. 18" to 2' snood with a 4/0 hook and 2/0 penel though others will have their preferences. Absolutely no need for a pulley fishing clean ground and the paternoster will give you a better bite to hook up ratio.

If you are scratching around a two / three hook flapper rig is perfect, small hooks (size 1 - 2) will catch most fish. If you need to fish at range the flapper can be built with cascade swivels and clipped down. If targetting Plaice then a wishbone rig with 1/0 hooks and plenty of bling tends to score best.

Other rigs I like are a Portsmouth Loop Rig especially in summer looking for Bass or Ray (allows a very long trace on the bottom and a shorter trace on top) and I sometimes us a Bomber Rig as well.

Just my HO like ;)

Ditto Malcolm. With 4/0 & 2/0 short-shank, or 2/0 & 1/0 short shank options depending on bait and what you think's infront of you! Clipped down, gemini small swivels (80lb & 45lb), small beads and impact shield or lead for distance.

My pref is main body 60lb shockleader impact shield rotten bottom, sinker link 20lb, hook snood 25lb attached to swivel crimped between two beads just above shield stop then clipped up and down on cast see pic of top clip so when hit water all comes apart then left with a long flowing hook snood tight on the bottom plus when fish hooked the weight of fish lifts lead more off bottom the length of total hook snood is anywhere from 4 to 6 foot and always 4/0 hook and pennel.
hope all that makes sense:)

There's always a chance of a snag Shaun on our coast the way I see it personally I would rather lose a sinker than a fish I like to play it safe;)

Mate use a 2 hook flapper..1up, 1 down..If u need distance a loop rig.

Theres no need for pulley rigs and rotten bottoms on clean beaches...

Exactly the same here; general use - flappers, distance - a 2 hook loop rig. I'd rather sit in the house wearing a tight pair of shoes than ever use a pulley-rig;)
