i`ve been borrowing a rod and reel of my mate who owns the boat but his gear is as old as the hills what rod & reels should i consider for wrecking he uses baited feathers but i want to try pirks and twin tails as for main line braid is beter for pirking i`ve been told thanks for any help

chris I use ugly stick 30lb for the heavy stuff (pirking) and 12lb abu for general ground and reef, have a number of reels penn etc but find that the okuma stuff is not bad and dirt cheap.

Abu Suveron Pro Boat 30-50 and mitchell 20/30 for the heaving pirking and ling bashing, and a penn 16lb class giller thriller and 535 for jellies and light rough ground stuff.
Looking at a conoflex uptider at the moment for pirking.

I know there`s lots of replies to this but anyway here we go .......
Ugly stick ... 20 lb general and 30lb for heavier wrecking, and a penn 225ld like stephen. I also use a 245 which is a bit bigger but 225 fits most occasions.

Oh and one thing is a MUST ........ Dynon 3000 55lb braid !

changed my mindtwo penn power stix20-30lb and a 30 -50lb for £65 the pair and a 225ld forgot to get the braid but theres plenty time it`s not cheap i got a shock at the price but i guess its worth it
right so what pirks and artificials do the biz for you guys
