Hi All
What line do you all use when making rig bodies ? I have some 80lb "clubline" which i made a few rigs with but , tbh,i dont like it so will be looking for something better ..............but what to get ?

Using thinner , 60lb, line was my first thought lads but i just wanted some input on what everyone else used before i bought anything else ......it all mounts up :(
Chose the 80lb initially as i have 80lb shockleader ( at least until i have some practice in with casting haha )

I've bought some 65lb shakespeare omni x mono off ebay. 2 half kilo spools delivered for £10. I use it for rig bodys (and snoods on pullys) as well as shock leader.

60 lb rig body is too light for any form of power casting. It really needs to be 80lb or 100lb if pulley rigs are being used. Even the 80lb trace can snap if frayed, weak swivels are used or the trace is crimped too tightly. Popped too many traces myself and seen lots snap. There is a trend for using heavier sinkers of 7 oz and this puts extra stress on the leader and trace.

Yep, 80lb minimum for me too - the rig body is what takes the most punishment from rocks / shingle etc. down at the business end. I also think the heavier rig body (and hook lengths) lead to less tangles and better presentation of your bait. I'm quite happy using shock-leader of 60-70lb but won't go below 80lb for my rig bodies (must admit though I only go up to 7oz when really necessary & not that often). I've been using some stuff called Mustad Ayaka for a long time with no complaints, but think it's been discontinued - so when my stockpile runs out I'll be looking for something to replace it, so I'm interested to see what others are using.

i use 80lb ultima for rig bodies.

its that bit stiffer and doesnt tangle as easy as thinner more supple lines.

your only using about 2ft so... suppleness and stretch doesnt matter.

i prefer a stiff strong line for my rig boddies.

I'm using 80lb clear sakuma, i find it knots nice for thick line aswell. Much better than the cheap 5hite you can get.

i use 60lb sakuma rig body , its softer n has a bit more stretch mate . so far so good .

Ultima powerflex in 70 orange for shocker and same in 80 clear for trace. You can get bulk spools for about £8 from most shops
Andy Rutherford sells it under his own name, think its £12 for two spools. It's a little stiff and wiry but strong as anything I've used.
The 0.75 mm is all I use on the field and never had a problem with it.

Greylon is strong in 80lb too but you need to use uni knots and bed them in or they can slip.
