The seas away

Fished the 40 mph mark at marsden last night with Eddie t and jackson.
They were already on the Fishing the cliffs when I got there at 9.15pm so set up and baited up with a 3oz cart finger and chucked it over within ten mins bang!
the fight was on and pinned me to the bottom all the way in snag after snag then stuck solid thought bollock$:good fish gone one last yank on the Msport power and rotton bottom gave way thought great it's mine" only to get to the bottom of cliff then solid no way was it coming this time had the rod bent double and for the price of the rod it took it in its stride very impressed.
I had to admit I was beat so tied it off and put tin foil pieces along othe line so no one would trip over it" the sea was huge so would be a long wait to get around the points to the third bay so we fished until 12.30am then drove to the grotto walked the steps only to find the sea still at the first point stood in despair thinking no fish for me so Eddie and I headed back up the damn steps.
Went back to the forty mark tried pulling again but not happening so put a battery tip light on line and sent it down pin point the fish we thought we could see it but not sure and not wanting to leave it an hour had passed so we headed back down the steps again water moved a little so managed first point and went over rocks of second and third was ok got to the fish which was wedged solid under huge boulders managed to put rod rest which we took to help us over the rocks" in a gap at the side and free the fish.
I put a loop in the trace hung it over my rod stand on my shoulder and started the hard trek back to grotto steps started pouring down weighed it at the car and it was 5lb 3oz was not bad fish but not worth the pain and how tired I am at work got in at 4,15am

Good fish mate but, like you say probably not worth the effort. Its hard work getting to the 3rd bay. Had similar thing last year at the wherry. Thought i was into a doubler was by myself so had to walk back with my rod to the path and leave it at top. Ran down into bay to find my fish 4lb with somebodies rig and a massive lump of weed attached. Was gutted!

Yep was hard work all right made worse in dark everything slippy with ebbing tide I thought it was around 8-10 just needed to see it would not have risked alone that's what for sure.

ENJOYABLE read, pity it wasent bigger for you, with the effort yous put in to retrieve it.had you not recovered it,storys would of been, lost 10lb+ lol, again welldone on your fish.
