Great achievement and I\'m not trying to belittle his record, but does anyone know how many of Jackie\'s goals were penaltys and how many games he played in europe?
Didn\'t Milburn score about an extra 40 goal before the war before the records started that wern\'t included. Shoot me down for this, I may be wrong, just seem to remember reading this or hearing it somewhere.
Marc..I heard something in the region of 28 goals were struck off milburns tally as they were scored during the war league or something like that,don\'t know how true it is tho...cheers
Hope you\'re not knocking Gigg Lane Sless. I spent a week there on trial when I was 15. There were 3 of us - 2 from Newcastle and a lad from Glasgow. First couple of days we were mucked about - this organised... oh no go and play over there... you get the idea. So the 3 of us bunks off to a pub one night. Got served and sat down and this \"old\" woman came over (she may have been this side of 40 but to us she was old), chatted up the wee Scot and we never saw him again. Remembering now............ yes Gigg Lane was depressing..... Please continue lol
Yes well done to Alan ,surely it should be about games played vs goals scored. nayway still a great feat, I was in Shearers bar today with the wife ...no sign of him ,you\'d think he\'d be celebrating eh lol.
I watched it happen but it cost me £30 quid to get in but it was worth it to see a bit of nufc history in the making. The noise was deafening and the atmosphere was worlds apart from the last time I seen nufc play draw 2-2 against Boro. Well done mr Shearer
