timing and technique a good littleun will allways beat a bad bigun!!so are you saying people like alan varley are lesser casters? i dont know much about him but i would put money on him being pretty good whichever lead he chose to use!

JOHN AND I BELEIVE THAT'S YOUR REAL NAME,i agree in theory with the old one line dia but in practice it would be UN beneficial to castingseen a thread on here where will powel says o to 200 yards is a novice .is this with 0.28 and 125gm lead .at one time if you cast 200 yards with 0.35 line you were considered a master.is these light weights and thin line diameter destroying casting . i like to read the results of the tournaments and you see joe bloggs cast say 260 yads with 125 and 0.28 line .someone else throws 259 with 150 or 175 who is the true winner. i just wish they left it all at 0.35 line you could still chuck 125 gm with 0.35 then you would no who is chucking the best and is the true winner
i watched a lad casting close to 170 yards with 0.35 and 150gm .someone said try the 0.28 and 125 gm from 170 to 200 .i advised him to stick with the 0.35 and 150gm and improve on his technique. i thought he was jus t cheating himself so if you are a 170 yard man do you use the light gear to get 200 .or stick with the gear you fish with

you,re right martin, but it was obvious quite a long time ago that casting was steering away from "normal" angling. and the fact that it was, meant we had to move with it, because the majority wanted it that way. as for casting with a tournie waggler rod and 3 swan, -- BRING IT ON, i,ll come and watch ya.bullet, that same lad will go fishing with 0.35 or greater line, bait and breakout sinker which will probably see his 170 yards come down to 100 yards ish, but he's now a "200 yard man". a little false i think. but then again i think it is true but sad that castin is developing into its own sport well away from any "one" type of fishing.
ps IM JUST WAITIN FOR THE LEADS AND LINE SIZES TOO DROP TOO 3 SWAN AND 0.10 MAXIMA THEN I CAN MAKE A REAL COMEBACK WITH ME NEW WAGGLER TOURNIE ROD. LOL
Instead of hiding behind a computer screen get yourself down to NESA this weekend John along with your fishing gear 20lb (0.40mm) line, SL20SH and 175g leads, and lets see what position you come in at..
According to your previous statements, regardless of what distances you would achieve, you would be the best caster on the day purely because you cast big leads on fishing gear..................................................................MUPPET..!!!
think you are thinking of someone else
i aint trying to destroy casting but dont agree with the unfair rules which benefit some but not all
But thats the whole point of dropping line diameters/weight, It allows more people to become competitive at their sport of surfcasting....
What you cant seem to get into your head is that by dropping line diameters and leads they have made it so that it is a level playing field for all casters, regardless of what weight they use......
You go on and on about using fishing gear for casting over grass, well living here on anglesey I use leads in the region of 1oz all the way up to 10oz, and from beach casters and 40lb line all the way down to light spinning rods and 6lb line......Its not the fact that casting is changing but its a fact of the fishing and equiptment that is being used is changing, look at the new "fishing" built by Century, Zziplex slim blanks, softer tips and lets not forget the lenght of rods which are also getting longer... and all this is to compensate for the use of "LIGHTER LEADS AND LINES"................................
You gave yourself away when you mentioned Steve Andersons name....you just cant leave it can you
JOHN ROBSON..!!!
And as for kissing arse.....Only because you have made so many enemies.....
The question you have to ask yourself is;
Would you be made welcome as everyone else is..??

and i am not a muppet no one yet has proved me wrong on this because they no i am right .light lines go further than heavy lines .tell me i am wrong.
put 0.28 on with your heavy sinkers and they will go further. so why not use one diamater for all leads 0.35 worked for yearsYou are wrong..!!!!!
As far as my casting is concerned, the bigger leads travel further in my case my pb on a 125 is only 19yds past my pb on a 200g lead, where as the 150g and 175g are my chosen lead purely because I cast them further...
It comes down to the extra weight of the bigger leads being able to tow all the line hence the bigger line diameters for the heavier leads and smaller diameters for the smaller leads......
Let me ask you a question;
Which of these is the better caster
260yds on a 175g or 240yds on a 200g

they,re both damn good casters pete, they may even be the same caster as thats about the differance nornal with these two leadsYou are wrong..!!!!!

i also say your wrong bullet cause in practice i,ve cast a long way further with 150 and 175 than i ever did wth 125.
i fact i,ve officially in contests cast further with 150 on .35 than i did with .31.
its all about confidence and timing. but the 175 and 150 will go further than a 125 on .28
