I have an imax floatation jacket and tbh even the toughest of weather doesn't get through it . daiwa stormbeach id avoid as the pockets rip// tear off too easily and also they fill up with rain water . greys are overpriced !!

Vass are good I have the sallopettes and also just got a Titantex pair and jacket, The titantex sallopettes have 4 pockets, 2 chest area and 2 below they are pricey but well worth the money

Just got the Vass smock from Veals. 2 versions, I got the lightweight which is breathable. Both are around £50-55. Nice bits of kit.

Alternatively if you don't mind camo gear, ex-army surplus Gore-Tex gear came be picked up very cheap.

Keep a eye out for a company called bass boots they are now producing a waterproof smock, the match lads and baitdiggers are singing the praises of these tops,at around £65 not cheap but are the mutts nutts of smocks.

where from i cant find any searching on google

Just email Malcolm Scullion at bassboots tell him your after the new smock, give him your sizes and he will advise which one you need. There not lined so you need room for a fleece underneath. If you want to look at one before you buy I am fishin shields open just pm me.

Ive just ordered at garbolino jacket should arrive in next week or so il let us know how it is!! Many thanks for all your help

Looked at the Vass @ the weekend....looked good ! the gortex one is very nice, but I have a problem with gortex eventually losing it's watertightness, and they never seem to reproof properly. The heavyweight is a rubberised/ slippy material. I had a jacket many years ago very similar, never, ever, let water in, only problem, If you wore it to walk to a mark, you would sweat like buggery, and it had no where to go, so started the session damp !:o
Couldn't make my mind up so didn't get one....may next week !:D

I ws tempted by the vass one but it doesnt hav any handwrmer pockets, my hands get really cold but i dont like wearing gloves as restricts movement etc! Hopefully my new jacket willdo the bizz!

Exactly the reason I didn't get one, plus I'm not really a fan of smocks - I hate all the wrestling them over my head if you want to take them off or put them on when out at night…knocking your headlamp off & getting arms in a tangle when the wind's blowing etc etc…

I've got a couple of the Vass jackets which I find nice & waterproof & they do have a couple of pockets, but if it's tipping it down they do tend to fill up with water as they're square-on, not those slash-style hand pockets. Only other downside is they do have a tendency to flap when it's windy!

Thing is I've got so many coats, each of which I like for some aspect of design & use, but sadly lacking in others - ie. nice & comfy but not great at keeping the rain out or nice & waterproof but lacking in good pockets or with a lousy hood or whatever.

I know exactly wot your sayin! I used to have the greys extreme mk1 years ago and that was a good jacket / smock and a team diawa which kept me dry as a bone til it ripped on sum barbed wire! Atm im fishin with the old style titan but its starting to leak thru at the neck and ive had 3 seasons out of it 2nd hand! Im sure ther will be more comments on which jackets smocks people are suited to but its what makes you comfortable dry and warm that counts!
