Today was very difficult!

After quite a while of trying, I finally could take Robin out. Robin has not fished from a boat but was very keen to try.

So out we went, Robin, Pete and myself.

We rubbed our eyes when seeing the perfect forecast with no wind, no swell, a moderate tide, sunshine....surely thousands of mackerels and bucketfuls of cod and ling would lie ahead of us.

Not long after we rubbed our eyes again...perfect everything but nobody told the fish!! Not a sniff on the mackerel feathers and nothing from the wrecks....well...I said, lets wait for the tide to pick up...nothing apart from a very decent cod of Pete,s which I kindly lost for him by pulling it up with line instead of gaffing :D:D

Being not very patient characters, we hopped wrecks and somehow had a cod or so and a ling...

Then we came to a very special wreck in the 7-8 nm zone.....and boing...the bucket filled very quickly with cod, ling, pollack....no mackerels though and we ran out of bait...

Then Pete had a massive bite (after all of us losing big big fish !!) and gave the rod to Robin, unaware that his PB ling was at the end of his line...Robin (a very tall and strong man) did not seem to work too hard....the more we were surprised when a fat ling of 16lb came on board

He quickly got the bug of boat fishing and when he also lifted a nice cod on a shad, he was a boat fisher !!

May I add that we also managed to catch 2 mackerels !!

Canny report Norbert - Our tope trip for thurs / fri was cancelled so we went locat (ish) - It was certainly a hard slog on Thursday Norbert - we did the everest pipeline and southern end of the graveyard - fished a total of 16 wrecks over an 11 hour shift - did'nt get anything of the size your lads got. well done
