i had myself 3 hours down on the wansbeck in morpeth last night fishing down from the skinery bridge. 3lb line small hook and big lob worm. i was getting a nice cast into the deep water near the far bank and letting the worm drift in the water. fro my efforts i had 3 nice looking but small trout which were unhooked and returned safley. i also missed a couple of bites.packed in about 8.30pm. i'm sure there will be some decent size trout in the water lying low but they did not fancy a worm super last night. nice to get down the river for a little bit of relaxation after work. i have a few pics to put up later of where i was:):)

had another go tonight after work and had one trout a little bigger than last night, returned safley.
here are a few pics of the river at the moment

Did you just freeline the worm?Last time I fished anything as clear as that was years ago.I wanna do it again. There's a beck near me might get some hammer shortly. All sorts in it,a club pond flooded into it,losing £ooo's of fish plus there are some massive brownies in. ;)

cheers lads:). tooly i was free lining, just a hook and a big lob worm and let it drift in the water. i have been watching the younuns with floats and maggots and even trying to fly fish with floating line and dry fly. i think its still a little cold so most of the fish are still feeding off the bottom.:)

had another go tonight trying further down the river, nothing at the first three places but missed a good bite at my last mark (slaughter house corner) then tried again with a new worm, just about to pack up as the light was fading and another good bite but this time i conected, the fish had a good go at escaping by jumping out the water but i managed to catch and land it all being with a bit of luck. i had set the drag to next to nothing and i also did not notice that the line was wraped around the handle and the bail arm so that had to be sorted out before i could reel in. this is my bigest one so far in the 4 times i have been out at about 1lb nad again retuned safley. sorry no pics this time

there is no point me starting a new thread everytime i go down the wansbeck so here is tonights post 4.4.2007.
had a go down one of my favorite spots tonight at about 6pm with not much luck and being disturbed by about 9 kids with only one fishing and the rest just messing around so packed up and off i headed to the bank side of the prom. the first place i tried there were about another 9 kids a bit older i'm sure smoking grass or some other ilegal substance so i moved a bit further up steam where the rivers or council have kindley put som little platforms in. first chuck again with lob worm free lining hooked into a nice fish at maybe just over a pound but with plenty meat on, landed nice and safley, unhooked but when i went to put it back turned on its back, tried again about 3 times with no luck so thought what the hell its a keeper so took it home and now its in the freezer for our lasses bait for work. i dont normally keep river fish but as it wouldn't swim off i thought best to take it home. anyway here are a few photos from tonight
where i started off tonight ( slaughter house corner)
