Fished 1730hrs - 2100hrs. Mate and I caught 5 fish between us. Biggest 6lbs rest 3-4 lbs Bait frozen crab, squid, runnydown. Best session Ive had for about 5years makes it all worthwhile. About 6 other anglers on beach at various marks, a good sea and a pleasant warm night. Great !!!!

Gerry - can I ask whereabouts you were?

I was at the North End on next to Slaty Gut, just trying to get my bearings on this beach as just moved to the area and have now tried both ends fishing Bathing Pool Skeer last week. Have caught more codling in two trips here than for the last two years on my home beach at Blackpool. Ironic thing is was using Blackpool Black I brought with me :red:

Do Whitley Beaches generally fish better than Tynemouth beaches - surprised some in this thread think the beach isn't very good? It seems fantastic compared to what I am used to :)

I've usually found whitley fishes best early in the winter months then when fish move off the crab and more onto worm tynemouth fishes, think it was a bit hitty missy there last year but with lots of food in shore and some nice seas there's plenty of fish coming all over this year

OK - I am going to try and get down again Sunday night, can I ask what bait you were using please and at what state of the tide you got your fish? All 3 of my codling came at dead low on frozen black and lug.
