Me and a couple of mates fished the 2nd bay last night more in hope than expectation. We fished 2 up 2 down but as expected the only action was from crabs and rockling. Still at least the wind was off our backs and with a bit of craic its a look out.
We had used lug, rag, mussel, squid, frozen crab and cart between us in various combinations. We even left a live rocking out for half an hour. However the only breakthrough came when one of the lads fished a big piece of refrozen bluey out of the bottom of his bag, made a bait out of it and a codling of around 3lb was straight on it and reeled up the cliff.
So the group blank was saved and it was perhaps more than we could have expected given the conditions. I don't normally carry bluey on local rock marks but perhaps I will in future.
