Trapped Nerve - Right Laugh

Anyone care to suggest a solution to removing the pain of a big rusty spade (with the odd spike on - a fork by any other name) sticking permanently into one's shoulder blade. I have already found a use for the numb right hand but that can only go so far.

Currently on - codeine phosphate, paracetomol, diclofenac, TENS machine, Ben Riach and valium of an evening. Only relief happens to come from sitting in me mammy's big chair in front of the Plasma screen which happens to be hooked up to the xbox - Mass Effect 2 is helping.

Any suggestions or sharing of pain is much welcome.

Side rant - saw the doc again earlier this week who finally accepted I had a problem (crawling on the floor and chewing on his sweaty Birkenstocks may have sealed the deal) He actually said - "Are you rich?" I said yes, he then said "well I'll give you 2 prescriptions, one for the codeine, another for the diazepam". Gave me a 7 day sick note. Went to the chemist and waited 9 days as you do, while some wifey who looked like she'd been sacked off the makeup counter in Binns, put my tablets into a bag and printed out a sticky label. Got home - 5 X 5mg Valium for £7.40, i've got a 7 day sicknote do they want me to only sleep now and again, is this character building?

Advice still required on how to untrap this curse of the devil

Thanks in Advance.

I had one in my back last year. They aint funny in the slightest. Have they not sent you for physio yet? Not that it helped that much anyway.

I spent ages soaking in a hot bath and felt better when I got out for at least a couple of hours. The pins and needles in my arms and hands was unbearable at times, so much so it stopped me playing MW2 :D

Surgery is the last resort but they'll try anything to avoid taking that route. (so they can take you're eyes out with more NHS prescriptions more than likely)

Aye physio sorted - although I did make a hunchbacked foray down to the local today where I was greeted by a wave of sympathy (:D). "How Quasi" and "Too much wanking ya ...." God bless them all. Someone suggested the following - "Get ****ed and just let us all yark you around the carpark, that will untrap the lad" I did mention that last weeks yarking may have trapped the little sausage in the first place. Bustards

I had one for a couple of weeks last year in my shoulder blade area...I was days away from going on the pat and mick when I woke up one morning to find it has "resolved itself" (mercifully)

I have every sympathy. Went down to Glastonbury a couple of weeks ago and some eedgit parked within 6 inches of the drivers door of my car. Seeing as I am not of Twiggy like proportions it was none too easy getting in. Got halfway in to the drivers seat when I felt the twang that had me in agony. Driving back was a nightmare. Since then I too have been on the Codeine phosphate, paracetomol, diclofenac cocktail. Didn't do much good but at least I slept for the first 4 hours at night. After they wore off it was too painful to move to top up with some more.

I had a meeting to go to last Monday across at South Shields and called into Asda for something for my lunch. While in there I passed the JML end of the aisle pile of junk and noticed a back support thingy to use in the car. As it was only a fiver I thought I might as well give it a go......almost instant relief. I have now bought another one to use in the house and have given up on the drugs. Might be worth a go. It has eased the pain and stopped the pins and needles that I had down my legs.:D

"have given up on the drugs."

It's excructiating like, but not that bad - taught me ma to skin up as that was causing me problems as well.

Paul, I have an idea about how you feel - keep mithering the docs m8 maybe one day they'll earn their corn.

yeah m8 the doctors just give you out i dont want 2 be feeling the way junkies do but if it keeps up al be over 2 see me pal in holland 2 get some proper medical herb

The good lord has had his revenge - as we know he likes to see us suffering on a regular basis, famine , pestilence, X factor etc. I've beeen caught out. Living with Mammy and unable to drive just now. I did mention how it would be nice (on a number of levels) to spend a fraction of the money I've saved by not being down the pub, on a really nice bottle of whisky for genuine medicinal purposes. Oooo no, tablets and all that, fair play,, if only she knew :D Refused to drive me to a supermarket. :(

ha ha - under the pretext of getting fags, which are obviously not bad, as my mam doesn't smoke apart from mine all the time, I persuaded her to stop at the Tecos express for bacckky. Snook a bottle of their only half decent whisky into me bag. £64578 for a half bottle of Glenfiddich in a litre bottle box - criminal. Any road had a few snorts and I've now got the hiccups for the first time since 1988. Everytime I hic it sends a wonderful pulse of pure pain through the whole of my body, I hiccuped that much I started laughing, which led to a cough, which nearly killed me and got me very close to phoning (or screaming for) an ambulance.

Feeling great just now though as I survived :D

Hi Ell, I,m in constant pain with arthritis in both knees and in my left shoulder and they tell me I have to wait till I am over sixty to have the opperation done on my knees. I will be going to a clinic next week for steroid injections into my shoulder to try and ease the problem. I have got a constant supply of free morphine from the doc to help ease the pain so I can always let you have a spare bottle if you are in that much pain.

hi charlie

i also have back problems and some of my discs in my back have disintergated,i suffer all the problems you have and more. the best thing i can advise is try some physio, it works for some people but not everyone.

try lying on the floor with one leg in the air and get someone to push your leg forward towards your head but keep your leg straight, try this on your back and also on your chest.

i know walking will be painfull but try walking,i may free the trapped nerve.

good luck mate.

I've suffered from a load of trapped nerves (mostly self inflicted through rugby!) my advice would be not to wait for an NHS physio but to get to a private physio who's been in business a while. Any decent one will also give you a few exercises to prevent it happening again.

Expect the drug squad knocking on your door morphine is a "class A drug" 5 years in the nick just thought id get this in before the pc brigade start on here i know you were probably joking mike haley ,,,Charlie thompson hope your shoulder gets better soon nothing worse bud take care regards batt22

Your right Batt22, I was only joking. I would never pass on any perscription drug to anyone. I can understand the pain Ell is going through as I go through it every day. I am surprised the PC brigade have'nt been on before now.
Dont get out fishing much because of the arthritis so the next best thing is stick a post on here like I did and see how many "bites" you get.
It really is good fun.

My sympathies to you mike arthritis is a horrible disease i have a loved one going through agony at this moment the doctors and professors are wanting to put her on mtx a chemo drug but she is scared witless as the side effects are horrendous hope you get back fishing soon bud take care regards batt22

Heard it on good authority from many a salty old trawlerman similarly afflicted after hauling the herring all day that the best cure is found by caulking a wooden boat - honest. :D

(you know what they say about sympathy.... It lies between **** and syphilis in dictionary!!)
