woke up at 5am, wasn't planning on going fishing but high water was about 9am(ish) and i still had some fresh crab left off earlier in the week, so decided on a session over high water at southwick prom.
got down on the prom around 6am, what a mess greeted me, never seen as many lager cans and cider bottles strewn all over the grass

then as i was setting up (remember this is 6am) three chavs came down p**sed up and drugged up shouting as loud as they could across the river, anyway they only stayed ten minutes or so then dissapeared up the bank still chanting as loud as they could. anyway back to the fishing.

first cast a double shot an eel and a flounder

after that for the next hour it was a steady flow of eels with no more flounders

as high water approached the flounders came on, nothing huge but decent quality all around the 1lb mark, every cast either 1 or 2 also still picked the odd eel up and got a blenny (used to get loads of blennies in the river but seem to have declined drastically in numbers in recent years)

interesting that three of the flounders coughed up tiny flatties, appeared to be dover soles !!! (hard to tell when semi digested maybe dabs but certainly looked like dover soles to me) if they were soles where the hell have they came from. heres a piccy of one you decide.

the rain came bang on time as the forcast predicted, was still getting plenty fish but called it a day around 9-45am. a nice little session ended up with around 15 flounders, 10 eels and a blennie, spoilt only by the scum that leave rubbish and come down p**sed.

just checked loads of pics, trying to decipher what flatfish the flounders had been eating, i,ve now ruled out dover sole, very much like dabs but much more elongated, maybe just because they're half digested !

nice one mick on a early sesh and more fish and cracking pics .ya get away from the piers for a quiet few hours but still they roaming around P!ssed up that time a morning .
looks like an Eelpout the blenny or maybe same make :D
