South Shields & District SAC - 71st Annual Open Shore Angling Competition 2019

Hi all.

Today saw a total of 242 seniors and 12 juniors turnout for our 71st annual open shore angling competition, fishing from 10am till 3pm in some good conditions, with a nice Northerly swell running.

A total of 73 anglers returned to the scales with fish, weighing in a total of 240lbs of fish combined.

1st Prize of this years 71st open shore competition, and winning £600 and the Alderman Barbour Trophy, with a Codling of 5lb 8oz 6drms, goes to Paul Smith.

2nd Prize for the heaviest bag, winning £400, with a bag weight of 13lb 1oz goes to Darren Browne.

This years Ladies Champion, winning £50 and the Ladies Champion Trophy, with a bag weight of 1lb 2ozs, goes to Judith Howard.

This years Junior Champion, winning a Rod & Reel, £40 and the Junior Champion Trophy, with bah weight of 1lb 7ozs 7drms, goes to Harley Thompson.

2nd Junior prize, winning £30 and a trophy, with a bag weight of 1lb 7oz 3drms, goes to Joseph Russell.

3rd Junior prize, winning £20 and a trophy, with a bag weight of 1lb 4ozs 7drms, goes to Riley Ord.

This years Heaviest Flatfish winner, winning £50, with a Flounder of 1lb 7ozs 2drms, goes to Geordie Stobbs.


OPTIONAL SWEEPS:

Heaviest Fish, paying out for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places:

1st, with a Codling of 5lb 8ozs, receiving £120, goes to Paul Smith.

2nd, with a Codling of 5lb 5ozs, receiving £70, goes to Mark Weighman.

3rd, with a Codling of 5lb 3ozs, receiving £50, goes to Chris Coxon.


Heaviest Bags, paying out for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places:

1st, with a bag weight of 13lb 1oz, receiving £120, goes to Darren Browne.

2nd, with a bag weight of 8lb 6ozs, receiving £70, goes to Dennis Thomson.

3rd, with a bag weight of 8lb 3ozs, receiving £50, goes to Dean Ambler.


This years sealed weight winner, with a bag weight of 2lb 4ozs 2drms, goes to John James Gray.
