It's a Fladen Maxximus, I had a struggle with the cod my drag wasn't set right, I was turning the handle and the spool was stationary.

Who would do that eh ...oh yeah ,me , it was the biggest battle I ever had ,only to turn out to be fast on the bottom :D:D

great fish

great fish

As allways great fish and excellant video, but just gotta say its casued a great argument between me and the kids, :),i showed them your video to prove that there is big fish in the sea (because they think a mackeral is hard to wind in lol) and guess what they said, "they aint wearing life jackets, so why do we have to" my kids love comig out with me but hate wearig life jackets, i have to wear mine before they put theirs on . and now they seen a video of some proper fisherman not wearing one i got no chance of a peacefull fishing trip next time out, so would just like to say thanks for that norman:D:D, can you just pause the video next time your landing a biggin, slip your jacket on then resume normall activities :p, will make my life a lot less stressfull :D:).

Cheers for the vid, look forward to watching them mate, keep it up.

Paul

Paul, speaking as a non-swimmer I have to say your kids are completely right :red: I even bought a life jacket and it's never been near a boat. I've no excuses, can't say I don't wear it because it's uncomfortable as I haven't even tried it on. In my defence I do carry a spare tyre about my waist.

WAS juat goona post the same reply  i keep my spare tyres on my waist and defo around my chin. keeps the water from going in my eyes :D, nothing worse than slat water in the eye :p

hi paul, cheers for comments, difficult one to answer really about lifejackets. I do have a set on board and fully ready to use .........
my personal view ... and this is just my view, I certainly dont want to open a can of worms here .. I am a fairly strong swimmer and on holiday a few years ago (in majorca lol) had a trip on the "sausage" which involved the use of lifejackets. I turned from a swimmer who could handle anything to a dead weight in seconds, first time off the sausage I couldn't swim, simply had to wait for retrieval due to the lifejacket. I removed it for subsequent dumpings and was free to swim.
As I said, absolutely "just my view" but if your not a strong swimmer, wear the jacket and wait for recovery ... lol I guess that means you keith (it is a nice shade of orange so you may attract fish)

norm

I think most fisherman are the same, we have tem but done wear them.

I have 3 lifejackets and 2 aids on board and aprt from my mam using one the other two have never been out the bag apart from a gas tube re-fit.

Always at hand incase its a captain does not go down with the ship day.:)

Pleased to see the cod comming in thick and fast nice one and a briliant vid Norm spot on!!:):):)

Cracking fish Keith mate

Ps just for my pennies worth life jackets I have the manual inflation type for the my little boat and wear them but would not inflate unless neccessary as totaly agree on the swimming thing.
