Sidewinder Shads

Orange Shad

Well-known member
Hi Guys

Just on the off chance someone may help me.

I have been informed that "Sidewinder" no longer make this shad pattern.

During last year, when calling in at various fishing tackle shops, I would buy what stock they had, if they stocked them at all.
Since then, I've tried many other shops (mail order) but without success, some have stated they kept the pattern, but on arrival, the shads sent do not remotely resemble them and have been quickly returned.

They are 4" Holographic Sidewinder Super Shads "RED HEAD" 4 to a pack.

If anyone has any they wish to sell, whether they are a full pack or not, I would consider purchasing them.
Alternatively, if you see them in any local fishing tackle shop or know of a stockist, please let me know via PM

It will be very much appreciated (Also posted in the wanted section)

Many Thanks

Hi Chief

Most appreciated your suggestions, however, Dorchester Angling Centre was one of the shops I contacted.
They still advertise the "Red Head" but don't have any in stock.

The ebay site, shows the "Red Head" on their advert, but the drop down box for colour selection shows "Bloodhead" which isn't anything like the Red Head

Thanks anyway mate.

Sidewinder.

Sidewinder.

I rang Kiddt's who make these shads and they told me that particular Sidewinder has been replaced by the "Bloodhead". It comes in 4 inch with 4 in a pack and 5 inch 3 in a pack. Hop this helps. Tight Lines, Sam.

Sidewinder Shads

Hello Sam
Thanks for the information, that's exactly what I did and got the same reply.
I was just hoping that someone may have some or knew of any shop which have the remains of their last order.
I'm surprised it has been discontinued as it was a very popular colour.

Thanks anyway.

Here's a memory jerker for you, do you remember losing the tiny grub screw from your reel on Ali-cat, a couple of years ago and nobody could find it.
It was eventually found between the engine frame and hatch on deck when we got back in and I was that man that found it.

I think Barney Wright was on that day.

It was a good day if memory serves me right.

Thanks again.

Reminds me of Berkeley Hollow Bellies John, discontinued those too, The only shads I regularly caught fish on!!

Hi Mark

Are these the boys you are thinking of?
I took some cracking fish too on these.

I might bring some on 12th July just to torment you :D

I know that this is totally off topic.....

BUT: I cannot believe that a specific colour combination makes or breaks a day....

research suggests that down at 40m the colours are not visible anyway...

a German report suggests that especially red goes down to an almost invisible grey:)...which might be the reason they catch !!

I personally would think that a very bright colour (white) and a very dark clour (black, grey etc) will do...bright if one tends to fish close to the ground and the fish looks down on them and dark, if you fish higher up and the fish needs to see them against the light.

Well....why dont you buy some shads that are transparent and dip the head in some red paint ??

Cheers Stray,

They look very much like the Sidewinder.
I'll give Google a good workout tomorrow.

And I'm with you 100% that some colours outfish others.

Thanks for the info.

plenty of evidence that a particular colour will outfish any other on certain days, whether it be shads muppets daylights hokkis jiggers or whatever--also plenty of days that fish will take anything you put down there, thank goodness for those days:D
