Got down for high tide at 6pm last night with a mate, Alex. The forecast was for flat sea, so I was hoping for a few Plaice; there was no swell at all, but the surface was really choppy with the wind.

There was a couple of lads, including Youngando off here, on the 44, so we set up on the 43.

My first cast, just using rag tipped with macky, and I got a double shot of a Dab and this Codling

Things were looking good, but the fishing was fairly slow for me, Alex got a couple of Dab, and I got a small double sided Flounder.

Alex with his beautiful, identical pair of Zziplex GSI!

And his first Cod of the evening

We didn't get anything else bigger than my first one, but I ended up with another 3 sized, and Alex got around 7 or 8 sized and a few more Dab and a Coley.

I also hooked a Mackerel when I was reeling in (which brings my '44 mark species count' for this year up to 11).

Good night with good company and enough fish to keep us busy!

Sounds like a good night Andy, plenty sized fish for the two of you. Sorry I didn't make it down there, it was too late by the time I got sorted yesterday. Still haven't tried the new reel lol, probably going to be the weekend now.

well done mate. went for a walk along with wor lass and seen the guy with the zippies, didn't realise that was you with him like. chocker with bashers at the end but never seen a one hauled in like.

Cheers lads.

No offence Mark, but, without a doubt, I fish better when you're not there!!!

(Suppose it's worth it for the crack though!) I'll not be out until Saturday as well, I was thinking about maybe heading up north, maybe Eyemouth or St Abbs depending on the forecast, if not it'll be the pier. Let me know if you fancy a session somewhere different).

Aye, to be fair a lot of them stuck at it until it got too dark, I asked a few of them as they walked past what they'd had and the most any of them had was 5 or 6.

Haha... I thought the same about fishing with mark mate!! Had a few blanks but last couple of sessions I've managed a few so I guess it was down to me being a numpty haha. Lovely fish mate, well done
