After weather watch all week a little window appeared so plans were made for a leisurely 5am start, Jim is letting his partying affect his fishing so just Bert and myself this morning. :D

Headed not too far to a inshore spot with the trusty bait, there was a bit of a swell and the drift not perfect but the fish were there, we managed about 4 cod each very quickly, as usual for this time of year they were great scrapping fish fighting well above their weight in the shallow water.

Sadly all of a sudden they just switched off but we persevered trying a few other marks still close in, well Bert did, I actually put my gear away about 9am, not for long though.

Back close to our first location 2 fish in 2 drifts and with a bit encouragement from the skipper and I tackled up again, we had a great few drifts again, landing a few fish each for the next few drifts, the best a fighting fit 7lber for Bert. Again though just as quickly they just switched off, who said little tides are best for boat fishing .

We were back on the moorings for 10am, finally tally 15 cod.

Cheers Bert, great to be among the bull terrier codlings, sorry for whinging about my numb fingers :D

ps

4am next week? think we missed an hours action :D:D

well done lads in getting out and as usual amongst the fish, didnt get a chance to catch up with youon Saturday, what with Chris's new boat and Jim's partying tales. Well done anyway, nice to see the Shady H reports starting to be a regular read not be long before Slinky and others help in the reading department:yltype:

Like you say Keith, normal for this time of year, but you still have to be out there to catch 'em. Well done the two of yous.

That sounds like a tough session, needing a break at half time. Your persistence was rewarded eventually.
