Was up today with the family. Talking to the lads in crabbing boats. Loads of small cod- all eating fish. Some ar even getting in the pots after the mackeral.

we always get codlings in the pots in summer. weve had bass congers pollock to 7lb plenty of codlings dog fish etc in pots. they go in for the small crabs and as you say for the makerel when using that for bait.

when a go on one of the lifeboats crews fishing boats for the pots in the summer he puts them next to the whitley pipe and we got a 7lb cod on a set of day lights that had became snagged we also had a conger of north crab hill and a lsd
