thinking of joining the club as pier only for members and be ideal for m8 as his bad with walking.Just want to know is it still fenceless ? is the green wall still there as that and the end was only place safe to fish years ago thanks in adv

Keith me and my mate joined last year. There is a big fence at the beginning of the pier and you buy a key for a fiver when you join-me and my mate share my key-but we have only been on a couple of times. It is a canny walk from the top all the way down but if you are disabled you can drive down the hill-think you need some sort of pass as there is a barrier.
the end of the pier is snag city. Half way up fishing onto the sand is the best bet.
Don,t know out about the green wall.
Mick.

its getting harder every year to fish but seaham sounds right tried loads of place last place was skinningrove just glad we got home as .locals are rough as rotten ground gear

You can park your car on the spiles {the part before the pier} and there is a wall which runs along that part. The green wall is over the south side of the dock and if your friend has problems with mobility then this area is right out of the eqasion as its difficult to get to even for a fit person. The pier doesnt have a fence up yet, but this is something planned for the future. I was talking with norman conn {development officer} for the regeneration for seaham docks etc and he explained that all the safety works for the pier and the opening of the south pier is some way off yet.

You can only park down there if you have a key for the barrier at the top of the bank and a vehicle pass for your car. There are no more passes available as I found out after I joined.I now have a nice shiney key which will open several gates to which I have no means of accessing due to mobility problems.

at the moment there are no disabled passes spare but we are hoping to get some sorted out as disabled day passes. these will have to be signed for and returned on a daily or 2 day basis . these are not availeable yet but hopfully soon.apart from that go to the comps and see if you know anyone that does have a pass and arrange to go fishing with them .if will do get passes you will need to prove you are disabled ( blue badge ) rod glad to hear you are trying to get fishing again just sorry no spare passes m8.any questions about acces to the peir either phone or visit the club and enjoy a cheap cuppa while you talk about acces etc all the best ken .
