How do you get a peg on the pier for the open?

Not sure how it works these days but way back in the day: you bought your registration card from the club / tackle shop in a sealed envelope, open the envelope and if your reg card has either N or S stamped on it you then you need to turn up to the club house day before or on the day to draw a pier peg.

No N or S stamped on your card then you are on the open beaches...

(Sure Geordie will be along sooner or later to put me right, this is how we did it 25 years ago)

Seaham south pier

Seaham south pier

Alright lads, I've entered the seaham open again this year and pulled a pier peg out the bag so was wondered if yous could give me a heads up on the ground on the south pier and what the fish are like there ?
Is it worth trying the pier peg or looking for better ground thanks lads

South pier has an evil bottom, if you decide to fish it expect to lose a lead every chuck, as for a better mark there is non if the conditions suit it as I think it's the best cod shot in the north east but only on it's day, the weather and sea will dictate were to fish on the day though. I have a few marks in mind but it all depends on what the sea is doing.
