I have a pier peg but not fishing the pier so do you know what will happen,is the pegs drew out on the Saturday cheers

Peg will be drawn on day of comp mate if you don't draw your peg it doesn't matter just means there will be a few numbers left in the bag

hope the sea gets away for the day. not much about at the min, bar the drum end with the odd cod
had 15 whities last neet on hawthorn cliffs.
micky only had one small codling and a load of whities on the point, with a good swell on.
if the mark was in bounds i would be gannin back for a bag of whities:D

looking forward to it. a repeat of last year would be nice:p

why is hawthorn poin out of bounds mate?can understand feather bed casting over you and danger lol

Advantage mark Phil.
It used to be a greater advantage a few years ago when the blast beach was a lot further out to sea.

Good tide flow round the point and fishing off the top could out fish anywhere else in Seaham.
Great mark.

Yeah you make a good point mate, but I think they could bring safety into it as it use to be a flat top rock
to fish off with little space for more that a couple of anglers and even years ago the cliff face was braking away then, now gone.

Suppose they could have pegged it like the north pier haha.

There was another reason it got put out of bounds because every comp a bloke on a quad bike would always be there first giving the rest an unfair advantage and he won all the comps well what I heard anyways

hahaha yea maybe harry comps are getting on my nerves this year lol and this one through the sea conditions and being early is a lottery going to be one daft rouge fish that wil win it that to me is not a competition i like the excitement i am not a great angler but i think a comp should be about knowlage and skill not luck

To clarify... Where exactly is deneholm pipe? To the right as you come down the beach road past the blocks?

Also my sister says is there a womens section of the comp? If so what is entry fee/prize etc

I agree Phil,
The better angler will have the greater bag of fish.....the lucky angler can catch the heaviest fish and winl the money.

But also people( I'll not call them angler's )will group there catch together and cheat, that's why the competition committee have to try there best to cut out this well known scam so put heaviest single fish as the 1st big money winner.
Sad but true.
That's why I much prefer a peg match.

Deanholme pipe...now sunken is to the right of the blocks( south) as you walk onto the beach.
Walk south about 100 to 150 yds and thats where the pipe was,can still be a bit snaggy there mind.

Yes womens and juniors section as well mate.not sure of the entry fee sorry.

Is that why it's nearly always the same names that seem to be near the top in most matches?

there is a women's category prize is £50 ,can also win on the table and cash prizes if lucky enough . if no lady catches a fish then all ladies present at the weigh in put there names in a hat and it is drawn for . same goes for disabled and junior entries .

I was involved with running the club in the late 1980's and it was out of bounds back then for safety reasons (and had been for a while) as it was seen as a dangerous mark.

IIRC a club member was fishing there a year or so ago and needed the air sea rescue to come out as he fell and broke his leg so maybe there is a reason it is still OOB

Good luck to everyone fishing Sunday and I hope the club gets a good turn out for what I think is it's centenary year open.
