Whats the best rod rings you can get.Ive allways used the fuji bnhg\'s but is there better ones as im still having to get a few of them replaced a couple of times a season.

you really won\'t find a better ring manufacturer than Fuji but I\'m very surprised to hear you are having to replace them. As with everything else these days there are cheap Fuji look alikes knocking about, where are you buying your rings.
A genuine Fuji will give you years of service if looked after properly. They do a wide range of rings not just BNHG\'s the following retailer does a good selection of their genuine range and the prices are not too bad either

ive always used fuji eyes on my rods , never had any problems with mine .....

I fish the rock edges a lot and my rods prone to blowing over its the inner ceramic that keeps getting damaged.
Cheers for the link westwind :D

not sure if they still make the zircon rings but i seem to remember them being pretty fragile do u use a diamite tip ring?

I have a diamite tip which is spot on thout there may have been a soopa tuff rod ring out there specialy designed for me lol

Paul, Fuji BNHG rings are still the top choice with rod manufacturers and rod builders.
Zircons are no better than Bnhg and as for tip rings well its swings and roundabouts, the centre will never fall out of a diamite, and the fuji will be less likely to groove.

lol @ Ian.cheers terry much appreciated.
A mate of mine bought a mark2 apollo a few month back and the rings on it are terrible if his rod falls over the rings just buckle there fuji rings but don\'t know what type,he\'s just paid about 50 quid to get the BNHG\'s put on its a p..s take when you shell out 180 for a rod and then have to get decent rings.apparantly it doesn\'t affect the guaruntee on the rod.

Another question for ya\'s was lookin on e-bay tother day and seen a shimano tn16 now I really do like the shimano reels but there quite expensive has anyone tried one, or the tn14\'s are they worth the money and with it having a quick retrieve would it struggle with a good size fish???

Paul, forgive me for this but your mates must have lost his marbles!
Why pay £50 to have the rod re-rung when all he had to do was snap the thing and get it replaced for a much less amount.
After all there is an unconditional lifetime warranty with these rods.
Anyone who owns a greys rod which needs re-rung should break them and get a replacement its much cheaper.

yes terry the formula one has had everthing chucked at it and it\'s
no different from the day i bought it.
( apart from a few scratches ) ;)

terry he had it replaced numerous times but it didn\'t solve the problem of the very soft rings on the mk2 apollo he was almost frightened to take it out in case it went over,he got the rings changed to bnhg\'s to save him a trip to alnwick twice a month.

That makes sense.
Do you think it has put him off buying another greys rod, it certainly would put me off, but then again i wouldnt buy a greys in the first place.
Much better to spend a little extra and purchase good gear that wont let you down.

Agreed terry I did warn him but it was the guarantee that swayed him which I can see why but he regrets it now .
The good folk at greys to they\'re credit didn\'t charge the 30 quid each time to replace the complete top section there fore the money he would have spent on that he invested in new rings.
The first cast he ever had with it was at the boathouse rocks he put it in the rod stand and it went over like slow motion Ive never seen rings buckle like that so anyone reading this be warned.

Used my MK 1 Apollo last week for the first time this winter. forgot how much stick you can give it. Borrowed the MK2 when I snapped the tip off the MK1 and didn\'t like it at all.

Swear by the mk 1 apollo ,for 7 months of the year it\'s all i use, apart from a pateke morton for heavy work. the new rings on the market, dare i say it are probably imported, and not the quality we expect from what a company used to supplying the upper echelons of society. like Y T says just buy good proven gear
