has session on the kelp beds yesterday . was using red ice 25lb straight thru and 10lb rotten bottoms...found that the 25 lb mainline kept snapping and was only first sesh on the kelps on a slosh30. on the other hand when using 15lb line shockleader etc iwas able to retrieve my rigs and sinker back no botha. anyone else had issues with red ice?.

I'd rather use red cotton on my reels than red ice, it's awful stuff. Do a search over on WSF tackle forum for red ice and you will see hundreds of threads like yours complaining about red ice snapping under hardly any pressure.

I used 30lb Red Ice a few years back had one sesh with it on Cambois rocks and took it off my reel later and binned it, now i just stick to Seastrike or Greys Greylon 35lb straight through.

A youst to you's red ice and was pritty crap in my opinyaing now a youse line from chine beaing yousing same line for about 6 year now well not same line lmao same make ov line lol

put some on my reels the other month first cast big fluff:mad: second cast the line just opened up on the reel there was line everywhere:mad::mad:
at first i thought it was my fault then had the same reel out but with another
line on and youved guessed it:):) cast no bother at all:) strange:eek:

how can you cast with 25 lb straight through? is that not snapping it? i wouldnt go less than 30 without a shocker, i like red ice every time i have used it its done the job

I have used red ice a few times it's the worst line I have ever used it snaps even when u tie the Bimini.nowt worse when u lose a cod half way in when the line snaps I use Diawa sensor or sufix tritanium

my thoughts use 30lb main line with 50lb leader joined with a binimi twist , plus i use 20lb weak link for sinker it gives you a chance to get ya sinker back iv,e had red ice on for a month now at first i thought i was to heavy i think 25lb mainline straight through is far to light for rock fishing the least nick and it will snap .jamcod

av have had probs with red ice before n its **** binned 2 spools of red ice end of last season, daiwa sensor the way forward for me it might be a little thicker but does the job n gives me confidence

okie dokie then not just one bad spool. what i found frustrasting was i cuold not even apply any pressure to break the 10lb rotten bottoms.....will be taking it off the spool now . thanks for the feedback guys. i didnt cast far with i just lobbed it bout 30 hence 25lb st8 thru ....:)

ive used it quite a lot. is fine on the river or pier but damages easily in the rough stuff.

According to the sales pitch its as follows:

Red Ice also has proved very successful when fishing either from shore on shingle or on rocky beaches, as its high abrasion resistance copes very well with rough ground.

Load of rubbish if you ask me.
