It appears that "guests" can PM users, I've just received this from Markli entitled "Nice Day"

Also attached to the PM were other members ALANA, arc, sage, stephie1, so I expect they also have a spam PM.
 
They probably just appear as a guest now that their account has been subsequently deleted by admin following the spam report.
