Proposed fund raiser event North east

Good cause, I'd be up for it mate :) competitions that offer cash prizes are allways dodgey. Winter Amble open every year I see anglers handing all their fish to one person and then sharing heaviest bag winnings. Just not right. So I'd be up for this :)

I;ll give it all the publicity I can, both on B.B.C. Radio and in the Chronicle. Why don't you give me a ring and I'll arrange to meet you somewhere and I'll record an interview with you for the angling programme on B.B.C. You never know someone listening might offer to sponsor the competition.
My number is 0191 5184561.
Tight Lines, Sam.

What about doing this in conjunction with the North vs South annual NESA comp Ed? I'll be up for it either way. We could maybe have a large boundary of both north and south territories (boundaires still to be decided though) and weigh in somewhere at the Tyne? This not only opens up the comp boundaries up but gives people more of a chance of fishing somewhere they know. Any prizes could be put up for a raffle on the night also to raise some extra funds. This may also open up the opportunities for more tackle shops to participate in sponsorship. Just a few ideas bud and good luck with a good cause. You can count on me for any help needed on the night

If the North v South comp would like to tag onto this event Darren then the more the merrier i say. We are looking at a heaviest fish meet with hopefully a trophy for 1st n 2nd. Also provisional expected boundary as far south as Blackhall rocks and as far north as the river Aln "provisional" still to be agreed.

The north v south is ran in teams as i see it however, this meet is looking like being called The Cock Of The North, im thinking that lads should still let it be known whether they are Mag, Mackem, Poolie etc oh or Smoggie :D and that way the one individual winner could give the bragging rights to all other Anglers from that area.

I have put my feelers out for sponsors and will update as and when that happens. Tackle shop owners beware, i have not started down that route yet:D Also if any members can get their hands on a prize through their works etc please do and let me know.

Heaviest single fish is the way to go for conservation etc but I have a feeling that most will fish up North for that as more chance of a bigger fish. Keep me in the loop mate and let me know if you want me to do anything

Just a very quick and short update for this event.

David Storey author of "The Codling Crouch" has offered to donate a couple of his books for the cause, Thanks David it gets the ball rolling mate :)

Also i have just had news through from Gary Williamson of Outcast High Performance Tackle that he will also be sponsoring the event in some way and donating a prize for the table. As some of you lads will already know, the outcast sinker is basically the bees knees when it comes to getting those extra few yards on your cast with the added failsafe of being able to perform the OTG cast to precision every time. You can see more of these leads at Outcast HPT Home Once again it is very much appreciated mate cheers.

Duncan "Lingking" has offered a couple of boat moulds up, which i intend to shift on fleabay, and any proceeds from the sale will be turned into a tackle voucher of some kind. A very kind gesture Duncan, thank you.

As all of you lads know already, this get together is primarily a fundraiser for the Intensive Care Unit first and foremost. This alone will make the event unique in the fact that no matter what the outcome we will be fishing for nowt but pride. However as promised i will do my best to get what i can from where i can to try and make up some kind of prize table.

I will be meeting up with Sam Harris in the morning and with a bit of luck if i put my posh phone voice on and grovel enough somebody might just hear it and think ahhhhh and offer whatever they can, which will be a boost.

Ok so maybe not a very quick update, but that is where we are at the moment. If any lads have anything they would like to contribute for the cause then please shout up.

Oh and it is looking like the trophy for 1st and 2nd is sorted also.

Is there any chance of getting this thread made a sticky please for the time being. Thank you.

Ed.

Having spoken to Ed I don't think there's an overlap here and I'm sure NESA members from both North and South will support this event. I'm happy to help with a couple of books - least I can do for such a good cause. Hope it goes well.

once to you a date for this comp. let me know,I will ring jack melton who may be able to add it to his fishing report in the sunderland echo.

The date has been set for Oct 9th times and boundary to be confirmed.

Had word through today that the trophy for 1st n 2nd place is deffinatley secured so that is that part out of the way.

Oh and the Get Hooked On Fishing Founder got well and truely mugged today and has offered some prizes for the table :D i wont know exactly what the prizes are until 20th Aug as i will be collecting them on the last day of my Coaching badge. But it is all starting to take shape.

Recorded the spiel for the radio with Sam today also and that will be aired a week come saturday.

A pledge of a box of 6oz grippers has been made by Kingcod Deano which is much obliged mate, it all adds to the pot. Mind you he never said how big the box is yet Walkers crisps box size :D And also some spools of line, cheers Deano :)

If everyone who has pledged anything please bare in mind that i am working between 3 different forums, so when the time comes that the event is nearing the final stages of sorting please just get in touch with me via PM or email and all and any items will be sorted. Cheers.

Ed.

Great work Ed, i'm sure this good cause that you have highlighted will be well supported. i will be looking forward to the day, and bring a prize to the table. :)

Very much appreciated lads, the more the merrier :)

It would be nice if we could also see some of our local match men/ladies take part in the event. Like has already been mentioned, everyone will be fishing for pride on the day and we may well just have some youngins who think you's are famous wink wink nudge nudge.

A work shifts but if me rest day falls on the day of the event I'll be more than happy to join in with a few mates in tow.:)

Thanks to all the lads who have given their vote of confidence for this get together and fund raiser for the RVI ICU. A good suggestion about lads donating anything that they like if they like, it will all add to the fun and banter on the day. We have got a few donations promised from various sources and will let everyone know exactly what they are closer to the day.
