Please help Going Mad!!!!!!

I reckon it's just a case of tuning the reel and getting used to it. I had similar problem when a recently bought a new reel after using a 7HT for years. I tuned it the same as my 7HT and it just didn't work. I put some 3 in 1 oil in, put the 2 brake blocks back in, and put some 30lb line on, filling the spool to about 3mm from full. It now casts superbly.

I had a 15 year old slosh 30 and it was mint. It had no brakes in and thin oil in the bearings and never ever caused any hic ups, was quiet as a mouse and a lovely reel to use. I sold it to a lad on here.

As already stated it could be your rod, I had a RT Axellerator and found it very difficult to cast with using several different reels.

Actually lads you may be onto something with the rod. I used to use a Daiwa wish which was loaned to me when I first got back into fishing which I could chuck out all day. I have bought a AFAW clubman plus multiplier with the slosh. maybe it is a combination of the 2. might try the slosh with the wish.

Give it a try mate.i was quite surprised when i changed rods. The GRX-S worked fine with other multipliers but just would not work with the slosh30

when i first started, a top local lad i used to fish with, told me to start casting with the biggest blocks in and with really thick diameter line, i went down the harbour, started off with little chucks and in no time at all i was more confident and got timing etc right, then it was just a case of using thinner line and reducing the blocks until im at the point im at now.
dont use any blocks now.
i get the occasional nest every now and then, thats is normally down to me having wet hands and not having a good grip on the spool with my thumb lol

the slosh reels never came with any blocks in them out of the box, also mentioned to much line on a spool can cause troubles.

it could be a number of things like the other lads have said or your spool tension might be too lose and need tightening if you know anyone close to you that uses a multi on a regular basis give them a cast and see what they think

Alot Of birds nest also occur from self levelwind if ur levelwinding is ****e then this will cause nests and crack offs

slosh30 mate - no level wind on them. edit - sorry, just re-read your comment and I'd mis-read it as blaming a levelwind rather than self level winding, i need to go to specsavers!

I'd look at the weight of the sinkers being used versus the line breaking strain - I find my slosh30, loaded with 30lb line, on my old Abu Sirius rod utterly hates casting weights under 5oz, tends as the original poster says to overspool during the cast if I use anything lighter - I normally use 4oz sinkers and just shifting up to 5 or 6oz made all the difference.

My slosh20 however is loaded with 15lb mainline and a leader, on the same rod it chucks 4oz weights lovely.

I had the same problem mate after 6 months of having a shocker with it i opened it up and i never put the breaks in lol. As soon as i put the 2 red breaks in from the box in a little packet the reel never nested again i now own 2 of them great all round reel.

Had bother yesterday with Abu reel which is normally great for casting, long story short,my pal had a look inside and the brake block had actually came apart and was just lying there in the aperture:eek:
Fitted new block and job sorted:)Was going to blame the problem on brand new Red Mist line at first coz its a bit stiff, but after the minor surgery it was fine and quite like the line now,700 odd yards for a tenner:)
